Tahara FJ assembly plant in Japan

From what I have read, the Tahara plant assembles a quality automobile. I believe this is where the new FJ will be assembled. It's reassuring to hear how the Tahara plant is #1 in quality.

"It is the benchmark of benchmarks: Toyota Motor’s untouchable Tahara plant on Japan’s eastern coast. In 2003, for the second year in a row, J.D. Power and Associates bestowed its highest honor — the platinum award for best quality worldwide — on the Tahara factory that produces Lexus and Toyota vehicles.
Tahara sets and demands the highest standards. Toyota, already a stickler for quality, will not accept components if defects exceed 50 per million parts shipped. In contrast, for Lexus vehicles, Tahara managers insist on fewer than 10 defects per million parts.
From the outset, former plant manager Kousuke Shiramizu, now executive vice president in charge of product and product engineering, established that the margin for error for Lexus vehicles would be half what it was at Toyota."

Wow...that makes me even more happy.

Toyota is using thier flagship production facility to manufacture the FJ.

They have already stated publicly that this is thier most capable 4x4 and that they won't be beating thier chests and yelling how good it is...they'll let the FJ speak for itself on the trails.

Thankyou Toyota...I am making room at my house for my new FJ

Does it concern anyone else that the best plant in the world still screws up 63/100 cars? Damn, Ford even screws up a couple of the cars twice. God love quality expectations.

I hope the screw ups are simple, requiring minor repairs under warranty at the dealer. At least thats what I keep telling myself.

I bought a new 1995 tacoma reg cab 4x4 (1st year production) and never had a problem with it except for the rear leaf springs - there should have been 3 leafs per pack, not 2.

Other than that, it was a freakin billy goat with its 4.10 gears...never let me down.

I am not concerned

Too many Americans couldn't see their toes when the foreman said "Now, touch toes, count of 10, ready, set...1, 2, 3..."
