Steering Wheel - Fit & Finish

Quick question regarding the fit and finish around the steering wheel. I noticed that, when looking at the center part of the steering wheel, there is a larger gap on the left hand side. No, not a gap that you have to measure to notice … it looks like it’s not sitting right. I’m not sure if that’s just the way the FJs are or if something is a little out of kilter with mine.

Yes, I’m anal about these kind of things – no need to point it out

Re: Steering Wheel - Fit & Finish

If its enough to bother you it sounds like its enough to have the dealer address it. I'd swing by the dealer for a little chat...

Re: Steering Wheel - Fit & Finish

Definately take to it the dealer and if they blow you off, call regional office. I work at a Toyota Plant (TMMI) and they are VERY meticulous about how the parts fit. I've seen trucks offlined for repair because the gap from hood to fender was marginally different at the front than the back. (and have seen vehicles on dealers lots from ummm...other manufacturers that were alot worse). So it is a concern to Toyota, just might not be to your dealer.

I know what you're talking about - mine is slightly off-center as well. Something I just happened to notice the other day... next time it's at the dealer, I'll mention it and see what happens.
