Looking at the listed indicator lights on the dash in the owners manual, I don't see one for a low gas warning. Isn't there one?
Also, how accurate is the gas gauge (at the empty end)?
My previous vehicle was notorious for indicating Dead Empty when there was still three gallons in the tank. Made folk think it was a 17, rather than a 20, gallon tank.
BTW, my first tank got 20 mpg (2WD, A/T).

The "low fuel" indicator light is located next to the fuel gauge. (the little gas pump) lights up with about 3 gallons left.
If you do a search you might find the thread related to the gas light indicator/fuel float problem some have experienced. To sum up, there were more than a few people that ran out of gas because their gauge stuck at a little less than 1/4 tank and they kept driving around waiting for the light to come on. When it didn't and they ran out of gas it was a great tip off something was wrong.
I probably drove my first 4 tanks of gas filling up at 1/4 for fear of the light not working...but then I said, "Are you kidding me...this is a new vehicle and if it happens to me I want to find out." Since then I've had numerous times where the light came on (and yes, you'll still probably have at least a few gallons left in the tank when that happens...that's why they have it come on when it does...gives you time to get the FJ in for a pit stop).

YES...My left foot gets sad if it doesn't have a clutch pedal near by...
Thanx all. I always use one of the trip ODOs as a gas gauge and usually fill up at about 1/3 tank. Having said that, I DID run out 2 years ago towing a railcar. Good news: the railcar had a full 6 gallon tank; Bad News: I had to siphon it; Good News: I had a hose & a 2-liter soda bottle; Bad News: never saw that woman again.

Indicator light works, as soon as it comes on I start looking for a fuel depot. I know once it comes on I have aprox 100 km(62 mi) haven't pushed this limit yet. Got to start filling when it is a 1/4 tank or so for the winter to prevent freeze up.
