Angry Vandals Prompt Alarm Install !!!

Went on a fishing trip to the central coast of B.C. and parked the FJ in a secure (HA!) hotel lot in Vancouver. Came back 4 days later to find some tweeker had vandalized my FJ!!!
The cops caught some idiot throwing a rock through windows and using other “devices” to break into vehicles, all told at least 4 vehicles they know of were hit.
As a result today I had a Clifford Matrix 10.5x alarm system installed, was going to do it anyway, but this incident prompted a sooner rather than later install.
The alarm with install cost $400…the body work is going to cost me $800!!!! They have to remove the roof rack, door parts, match paint, etc…
I’ll be without my FJ for 3 days, but it will look new and any idiot who tries to penetrate my FJ again will be sorely dealt with!!!!!!!
The damage is pictured as follows:

I would have said Vancover would be one of the safest places in the world to park it. Damn jealous Hummer owners. When will their assault stop?

Re: Vandals Prompt Alarm Install !!!

Sorry to hear about the vandalism.

You just bought one of the best alarms, I had one installed the day after I bought the rig.

It started out as a $380 install, but soon rose to a little over $700

Cartoys added in more charges to tie on the door locks, and the rear door.
I also went for an extended 3 year warranty, and also a DEI battery backup alarm.

It is a separate unit that has a built in battery.
If someone cuts your battery cables it detects it so even though your main alarm is no longer functional, the battery one will wail for four hours on its own.

If you get work done which requires the Toyotas battery to be taken off line, you insert a key into the 2nd alarm and disarm it.
This way it will not wail when its juice gets cut off.

The alarm is great, and I have the two way remote set to beep and page me if the rig is tampered with.
The remote is on my nightstand so I can hear it if it signals me.

You will love this alarm.

After researching and getting recommendations, the Matrix 10.5 was the way to go...I love the system, I just hope the damn thing never gets triggered!

Re: Vandals Prompt Alarm Install !!!

An alarm really doesn't stop this type of vandalism. Once the rock is thrown, it is thrown.

Agreed, the alarm will not prevent smash and grab, but might deter other more intrusive crimes, i.e. stereo lifts, vehicle theft (it has engine cut-off)
The FJ is a high profile vehicle, new and nice looking, if I can prevent even one more potential thief then it is worth it to me. Plus I get an additional insurance discount.
