Will the FJ be fun to drive on the road everyday?

I'm used to small-ish sports cars, so while I can't wait for the offroad capability of the FJ, I'm a little concerned that it'll be hard to get used to a ponderous SUV. Do you guys think there will be a fun factor to the way it drives? (not the way it looks...that part will be fun).....

Re: Will the FJ be fun to drive on the road everyday?

I read that it rides good both on and off road. Ya know, like not too much body roll that you'd experience in most SUV's. I think it's safe to say that it won't handle like a sports car, so don't expect it to.....but it won't feel big and lazy like most other 'tanks' on the road.

Let's just hope I'm right. =)

Re: Will the FJ be fun to drive on the road everyday?

How it drives is all relative, if you are used to a truck ride it probably will have a nice ride. If you are coming from a car it will be a bit bulky and noisy. I don't mind a truck ride at all, in fact i prefer driving my 67' F250 with no power brakes or steering most of the time. What is funny is that i drove 2400 miles with that truck, old bench seat and all, and my neck and back felt better than riding a 100 miles in some fancy leather bucket seats. This is why i am happy that the auto makers are starting to make more bare bones vehicles without all that leather and plush carpet fluff.

They Say It Will Ride Better Than The 4-runner....
I Also Am Going From A Low To The Ground Sports Car, But I Think After A Few Days Of Driving It You Will Be As Comfortable In It As You Would Be In A Sports Car. The Only Thing That Worries Me Is That I Might Start Going 10 Miles Out Of My Way To Drive It In The Woods Each Day On The Way Home From Work...

Re: Will the FJ be fun to drive on the road everyday?

I'm kinda lookin forward to a long drive in one next month just to see what she'll do. My favorite Toyota now is an 8686 (4wd V8 Sport 4Runner) and its friggin amazing on a trip. Nice and quiet, smooth with assloads of power. I wish ya could get the 4.7L in the FJ...

Re: Will the FJ be fun to drive on the road everyday?

I'm looking forward to the rain. That's going to be weird for a while - that whole traction thing. No wheel spin with just a smidge of gas. Being able to go and no 'power slides' around the corners at 10 mph. And the 1 day every 5 years when we get snow - whooo boy! I'll be able to get out of the neighborhood. Plus, I've looked at the #'s and the power to weight is less than 18 poundes per hp versus more than 25 pounds per hp in my current truck! And the torque is 15.43 pounds per foot pound of torque! I'm not posting what my current ride has. So, yeah, in my opinion it'll be perfectly fine daily drive. Besides - it averages to what? $17 dollars a day in terms of payment (more or less) so you gotta get your $17 dollars worth of enjoyment out of it daily.

crap. I'm just as obsessive as you guys huh?

Re: Will the FJ be fun to drive on the road everyday?

I'm looking forward to hopping parking blocks everyday. I'm going to go over 2 ft medians in the road just because I can ! I have a 2 acre field behind my house that I may drive through everyday to get home. Theres a couple of construction sites on my way to work that I may just have to drive through for no reason what-so -ever.

So yes I will have fun everyday !!!
