I'm going to guess that the steering pad switch is the set of button on the steering wheel that control the audio system. Just a guess...

It's when the dealer baits you in with the steering pad, but they substitute something else for it...

Yes, you are correct. This is the audio controls located on the steering wheel.

Rear wiper not standard?? I have yet to see any suv, van, minivan etc without one-- how odd- not to mention saftey hazard

its not as bad as you might think. i dont have one on my 4runner (its broken, actually) and it hasnt been a big inconvenience as it has the defroster for melting off snow and ice and such. still, it would be nice to have standard as im sure as hell not paying 1840 to get that, privacy glass, and cruise (the only things in the conv. pkg i really want).
