Re: Side curtain bags....worth it?

I think the SCAB's are factory work. Just a guess but it would involve so real tearing into the roof. Second the FJ I wanted has the SCABS's from Japan and I didn't see that as an option from my dealer in terms of port options. Since they are common I'm sure on of the Toyota tech's can shed some light on this.

Are the side impact airbags standard? If not are they easily added as an option?

I will - they're useless. Take em' out of my rig please. If I thought I wouldn't get a ticket you could have the damn seat belts, too.

there's too many idiots driving around in GIANT HUGE Suv's on their cell phones, reading their papers, and just plain not seeing stop signs around here. I'd rather have that pillow next to my head. Crash tests show it makes a big, big difference....

I live in the city, so it's probably more important here...

I work in ER's and Trauma Centres and from my 14 years experience they in a FAR greater %age of the time make a difference..
A seatbbelt is a lot less restrictive than a wheelchair!!

Re: Side curtain bags....worth it?

Oh yeah? You all think that damn side curtain airbag sounds so nice and pretty? How many of you read the warning label for it? Driving your rig will be like riding in a roller coaster...."Please keep all arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times....." No more riding with your arm out the window, or on the window sill. Unless you aren't concerned about your limbs.

I'm with Percy on this one, cept just give me the seatbelt too. There are some wicked old people on the roads these days, and they aren't altogether here.

Re: Side curtain bags....worth it?

since when do side airbags take off limbs?
Come to my work sometime and see...maybe you will have some experience to back up opinioin.....
Do not get me wrong...I wish these things were not necessary but there are idiots out there...
ONLY Question is Can the airbags be turned off when offroad and not on the crazy freeways?
