I think we definately have a big issue with the dealers and ultimately Gulf States Toyota on this. They are cutting corners and installing non-original equipment on our FJ's and calling it a Toyota original equipment tow hitch. I call BS!
With a capital "B". It would be one thing if it was an equal (or better) product but doing this! What do they think these Forums don't exist?
I hope you guys hand them their heads and get compensated for the inconvenience.

Hey Tex, PM me your digits. Maybe we can discuss this over the phone. I'm pretty sure if we document this correctly with our concerns the dealer will take care of us. If not, I'm sure Toyota of America would be happy to hear about this.
Well....I ordered a hitch from TRDSOURCE last week. I wonder what kind it will be. The website says that it is manufactured by Toyota. I wonder if it will come with the different trim panel. UPS has it showing up at my house tomorrow. I'll post again when I get everything unpacked.

If I was a betting Man, if its coming from Matt - It will be the real deal.

PM sent. I am sure we are not the only ones. Does anybody in Texas have the low profile hitch that we should have had on our rigs? If so where did you buy your FJ from?

Yep, same place I got mine. I was very happy with the dealer and they probably don't even know what's happening via Gulf State Toyota. I'm gonna create a new thread.
PLEASE RESPOND in this thread and make sure to vote.
I suggest posting the names of dealers that do not install Toyota factory hitches. Post it as information only.
Brunswich Totota Receives vehicles from the POE facility with the Reese hitch.
Also: I bought my Toyota hitch from "Texas Toyota".

Its not unheard of for a dealer to add aftermarket tow hitches prior to the sell. They sometimes use outside vendors who install these aftermarket hitches and do it cheaper than the factory does,"More Gross In the Sale". Now if you have not purchased your FJ yet you may want to peek below and check on the tow hitch and make sure your happy with it before you pull the trigger. There are many good aftermarket companies so having a non-factory hitch may not be an issue unless ground clearance is reduced.
