I have an aftermarket REESE hitch that was installed by the dealer. I think that is the brand all of SET uses (I could be wrong). The clearence isn't as big of a deal as Hotrodguru's but it certianly isnt a Toyota part. Plus the REESE has bling bling chrome on it that pisses me off.

The "Bling" would piss me off too. Nice toyota Truck and an available Toyota hitch - that should be about as difficult as it gets BUT then a Dealer gets involved.
I really am starting to believe some dealers are Major Friggin' Idiots. Is it that profitable to sub the hitch and piss people off?

Easy there big fella, it's not the dealer, it's the freakin greedy distributor (SET and GST both suque apparently). From the other thread wit the poll:

I feel for Toyota owners that have to go through a private distributor to get their new vehicles and accessories. This BS aftermarket hitch is a great example. It definitely affects the departure angle in a negative way.
I see vehicles (trade-ins) coming up from AL and GA (for example) that have all kinds of bastardized two-tone paint jobs, previous generation vehicle keyless entry systems, and bogus "special edition" packages for example.
In my opinion, the distributor's profit (in this case) is more important than retaining the design characteristics for the new owner to enjoy.
BTW, every U-haul hitch I've ever noticed was a Reese with a different label slapped over the Reese label.
If I were you guys (who got the cheap Reese) I'd get up in somebody's grill!
Actually ya'll there is very little distributor added stuff on the FJ so far, it has been mainly dealer added bling, EXCEPT for this tow hitch, some pin stripping, and an undercoating (but they do that on all cars)
I am talking about what i have seen from Gulf States on FJ's and i have checked out a lot!
The price on the REESE hitch that was installed by the dealer on my FJ was $204 at some hitch website. I was charged $350 by the dealer. I guess after the labor it wasn't too bad of a deal. I still HATE the bling though

Mine had the Reese hitch installed as well. Sorry no pics...work computer, etc. I bought my FJ from a SET dealer, so same story. They removed the cost from my deal, so I guess I can deal with a little 'bling' on a pretty good hitch for FREE. I have the WARN recovery ring hitch like hotrodguru as well. Got it for under 30 bucks here in Huntsville. Use the matching hitch/ball from Reese when actually towing the trailer.
