Is it just me or is Toyota's webpage for the FJ lame!?
It's not just you. The images are low-Q and cryptic and the specs are the same old basics we memorized months ago. Guess they don't want to give too much info away until they're sure it's all finalized. Even the "Heritage" site is lame. All the self-indulgent gee-whiz animation and racket distracts from the "vintage" images and textures.

Re: Taking Pre-Orders now @ MSRP

True that, I was so hoping the FJ video of it tackling rubicon would have been uploaded immediately after the show. I guess they wore out their web-content guy building animations for the legacy site.

Re: Taking Pre-Orders now @ MSRP

csherill - I had the exact same thought about Big Bend this afternoon. I've done some backroads out there in my FJ-80 and love it out there. I've also done that S.A. to E.P I-10 route a few times so I know well what you mean. I was thinking maybe flying SW to E.P. Hmmm, so Brandon, if csherill and I sign up to buy a couple of FJC's from you, and promise to do a scenic travel log photo shoot through Big Bend on the way home, and promise to rave about your excellent service, could you possibly give them to us for a few dollars below MSRP, and maybe deliver them to the E.P airport?

Re: Taking Pre-Orders now @ MSRP

OK boys and girls, not that this is anything new, but I put my deposit down on one today. Heres the details:
1) MSRP
2) $500 deposit & yes they are cashing my check and holding my money for several months
3) Deposit fully refundable at any time, including when looking at the vehicle and if I decide to walk
4) No dealer add-ons
5) Right of first refusal on all vehicles, ok....2nd since Im second in line

I will submit my request for options when the orders go in....December sometime. Nothing new as far as delivery or price info. Seems like they don't even want to comment on rumors, but who can blame them with this group of Pirahnas ready to pounce on any comments. If you're in Southern California and looking to lock down MSRP, not great, but it guarantees you a vehicle, try this guy.

BTW, no I don't get anything for pushing his name. Good luck all !!!

Re: Taking Pre-Orders now @ MSRP

It's nice to hear that people are able to reserve (buy) at MSRP. Hopefully dealers will be consistent. I have had some bad luck with being an early adopter so I'm going to wait awhile. I look forward to hearing the ongoing chronicles both in terms of buying experience and initial quality experiences. I'm betting they will be reasonably positive.

I'm a noob here. This forum is well structured and the members are very good. Hope I'll be able to add something when I finally jump in.

Re: Taking Pre-Orders now @ MSRP

I just put down $1000 and got a written guarantee of MSRP. The dealer in Acton, MA supposedly didn't have anything on his computer from Toyota so he could preference . Now to figure out what color. I sure wish tan was available. Also orange, with the black overfenders and the white roof would look wicked. As of this moment, I'm leaning towards black cherry. It'll be better once the production colors are made public[ ie: Jay Leno silver or SEMA silver ]

Re: Taking Pre-Orders now @ MSRP

Just for those of you who are unsure, I personally know brandonb and he is the manager at the local Toyota dealership and has been working there for many years.

You can buy with confidence, so no worries there.
