From personal experience, it should fit. I had a different TBS on my FJ and it took up the extra space in between all of the rubber couplings on my CAI. Now for the bad part, there was a noticeable howl when you put your foot into it, even before it was WOT. To me, it sounded like a turbo spooling up. It was there and kind of loud. I imagine if you had a TRD or other exhaust, it might sound differently, but I would not know for sure. I took it off the FJ when I traded it, still have it and have been debating about re-using it. If they did do dyno testing on their TBS, with those kind of numbers, I may be more inclined to put it on the Taco.
This design will apparently help to minimize noise, so I am told, though I kind of want to hear that!

Thanks David. Good info.

If it sounded like a turbo stepping on the pedal, how is that a bad thing

I guess I just found it a little grating-on-the-nerves knd of thing. Not necessarily bad, just constant.

FJoel, I may have to be a defiinite yes on this, if it really does minimize the noise issue.

The third feature and benefit listed on that pic in the original post says: "Serrated entry reduces annoying whistle at idle and cruising speeds."

Hmm... no mention of WOT. We need someone to install one ASAP and report. I'd volunteer but I want the group buy price!

Unfortunately I have no say in pricing on products that I don't manufacture, but direct purchases from aFe are $94, as per their website.

Re: aFe Throttle Body Spacers!!!

I'm interested too Joel. I sold (years ago) lots of aftermarket performace stuff at the Jobber store I worked at. It was always cool to look up this stuff, help a guy put it on and test it out. The noise sometimes can get to you on longer trips so it's nice to see AFe has tweeked there spacer to address this. What is the minimum number needed for the group buy, I'm not in a panic so when ever is cool for me. PM or email to confirm prior to your order (my finincal planner/ wife needs the heads up).

They backed up their claims with a dyno sheet...

6HP and 10 ft lbs is not a whole lot, but this IS what they claim to have gotten with the intake installed as well.

I didn't believe in TBS either, but then I talked it over with my old man. You are basically increasing the volume your plenum can hold, meaning there is that much more air for the cylinders to draw from when they need it.

I would definitely agree that an actual intake on the outside of the throttle body will give you more bang for your buck, but at $85 I am willing to give it a shot first hand. aFe knows their stuff. Atleast TRD thinks so.

Headers, intake, exhaust, it all adds up. Another 6 HP from a TBS sounds reasonable.
I can print you out any dyno sheet you want.

6HP... You will get a 6HP variation depending on humidity and temperature. You wont notice 6HP. It may cost you some MPG too. More HP = more air+more fuel.

Go ahead ... Buy them... Not my money.

Meaning Photoshop? I doubt aFe built their reputation and sold TRD on the contract on photoshopped dyno sheets...

Yes, in the winter when the air is colder here I feel my FJ pulling much harder than in the summer, and I certainly see less km's per tank. If you use the extra ponies you burn the extra gas.

The intake stats are below:
aFe Power Increase:
13 HP Gain, 21 lbs x ft TQ Gain

Add another 6 and I now have 19 above stock. I think I will feel a difference. I did at just over 2x 6HP with the intake. I'll let you know.

Cheers

I doubt they photoshopped it either.

What people shouldnt do is add up all the claims of all the bolt-on parts and say thats how much horsepower they have gained.

exhaust = 8hp
headers = 10hp
Air Filter = 5hp
Cold air induction = 10hp
TBody spacer=6hp
Fancy lube=3hp

All of a sudden you have 42HP over stock when in reality you dont. All the real claims on some of these bolt ons are given everything else remains stock.

Just a pet peeve of hime.
