Re: aFe Throttle Body Spacers!!!

Is there enough 'give' in the intake plumbing on the FJ to accomodate for the spacer? I've seen these used on some late model Chevy's where the intake plumbing was pushed far enough forward to interfere with the fan shroud and fan blades. I know we won't have that specific issue, but something in the system will have to get shorter to accomodate for the added spacer...is that easily accomplished?

Without having one to play with yet I can see I may have trouble answering some of these questions, so I'll need to be emailing aFe a bunch

In the meantime... I can tell from my aFe CAI there is definitely enough room for a TBS. I had one of my rubber hose clamps rattle off on a really rough road (I probably didn't tighten it right in the first place...). I think the TBS may just take up some of the slack the rubber connections pick-up in the CAI sense.

For the stock intake, I will have to ask...

The dyno results are from a 1GR-FE that had the aFe CAI installed as well.

e-check is another paypal payment method... with a maximum fee of $5.00 I believe.

On the intakes, at about $300 each, I came up short about $9 per intake on the first group buy because I forgot about the fees. E-checks it was only $5.

Lots of the participants were nice enough to repay it to me though.

Thinking about it it likely wont matter on $85 plus shipping. I'll see if I can calculate the actual fee rate and scratch that from the original post. Instant payments are easier anyway...

Re: aFe Throttle Body Spacers!!!

Okay thug, I looked it up. For my account it is 2.9% plus $0.55 per transaction.

Which equals = 3.015 which we will call $3

edited the Original. I can afford two dollars lost in pennies if we buy 100 TBS.

I'm interested but would like to hear aFe's response to your questions.

Re: aFe Throttle Body Spacers!!!

Joel....I would like to know if they provide a C.A.R.B. sticker for it. California is very strict when it comes to alterations to smog control devices. I see that they have a CARB EO (executive order) (CARB EO# D-516-2) which exempts it from regulations but without a sticker you will go through hell trying to get a "smog referee" to pass it, in California.

I just went through this with a AEM set up on my sons Eclipse, CARB Exempt but no sticker = FAIL smog. Had AEM send a sticker, put it on....PASS.

By the way, any chance on getting a plug for the aFe CAI, I bought in the first round? I could go to them directly, since they are not far from me, I just need the part number for the plug.

I don't know that they do will calls... but I can have them drop one in the mail for you. I'll send you a PM with the info for the plug.

As for the carb sticker, I will send another email.

Re: aFe Throttle Body Spacers!!!

The CARB number is supposed to be on the TBS apparently, and these will work with stock, aFe, and TRD intakes I have been told.
