With the price of gas the weight savings is a big factor plus install can be done by one. count me in.

Re: Full Aluminum Skids **** GROUP BUY ******

i'm interested but ONLY if they come in less than bud built.
i know i'm partially responsible for starting whatever flame wars surround this but $180 for 40lbs?
not worth it to me.
i'll just take my recovery gear out when i'm not going off-road to make up for the weight difference.
(and YES i am a weight weenie cyclist! former pro/cat.1 and i have no problems spending seven times as much for something that weighs .000001 gram less! (no, not really, at my weight and wattage durability is more important but that doesn't mean i don't like light!))

cheers.

I'd be interested, for a significant discount.

Re: Full Aluminum Skids **** GROUP BUY ******

Awesome sig quote 1911!!!! Molon LABE

Bud builts as shown in the skid comparison article:
Availability/Price/Weight:
Front/$289/27 lbs
Mid/$249/41 lbs
Tcase/$219/40 lbs
Crossmember/$99/10 lbs
All four above pieces combination/$650
Gas tank (regular)/$219 ($150 with combo)/48 lbs
Gas tank (beefy)/$350 ($300 with combo)/57.5 lbs
All five/$800

27+41+40+10+48=166
166-84 = 82 lbs

WEIGHT SAVINGS: 82 lbs

Thank you to whoever posted the previous incorrect value. You must have forgotten the gas tank skid... by mistake I hope.

Re: Full Aluminum Skids **** GROUP BUY ******

Thanks again for doing the legwork on this Singha. It's buys like this and the tail lamp guard group buy you started that make this forum rock!

While I went with the BudBuilt's on my FJ because of my awesome dealings with him on some older model Toyota skids, these aluminum ones are interesting. I really like the idea of the weight savings, my FJ is getting really fat (heavy)! Protection does have it's price though...

Unfortunately, I won't be participating in this buy as a result, but like we dicussed in our PM's, Ellis Precision is willing to support the buy and help in any way possible.

Re: Full Aluminum Skids **** GROUP BUY ******

$980 for a group buy? Wonder how much I would pay ordering these myself! I've seen lots of group buys that are nothing more than an opportunity for the vendor to sell lots ot items for basically the regular price.
