Re: Full Aluminum Skids **** GROUP BUY ******

Got my skids today. It looked like the box fell off the back of the truck. There was a strap inside that I believe was supposed to have secured everything together. It was broke and it was apparent that everything was sliding around inside the box and some hardware fell out. This was not RASTA's fault with the exception that they should understand that these things need to be strapped together better if they're going to use UPS. The skids are pretty heavy duty. Very solid. I think the skeptics here are thinking aluminum can aluminum. These are stout and definitely a good grade alloy. Well worth every penny. Good thing they're skid plates and not bling plates because they got scratched up pretty good in transit. F UPS! Thanks to Singha, FJoel, and Rasta for putting this together. Now to complain to UPS about their ****ty package handling. Losers!

Hey sonof40 and hondo, did you guys take off the gas tank? I will be geting mine on the 7th. (monday) and I will be going to moab on friday. so hope all my parts are in the box.
I removed all oem skids. The cord in the front of the tank skid is a support only. The oem tank skid looked as though it would trap more mud.

I left the tank on cuz I needed the gas but I also left the stock tank skid on because there is a wire attached which probably has something to do with static electricity (not sure about that) and because it fit in there just fine.
Take off the three other stock skids though.
sorry, did not know I left the work skid off for the gas tank. my bad. but it was funny what you said. I needed the gas.

Re: Full Aluminum Skids **** GROUP BUY ******

Just a heads up to you folks getting ready to install.
Some of the holes that where not being use before the skid install, MIGHT need to chased. In other words run a bolt through it to clean the threads.
Some may ask how is this done.
Take a M8x1.25 bolt (that is about 50mm long). With some sort of lube (like WD40), take a few turns tighting directions (1.5-2.5 turns) and then back them out and wipe the bolt clean. Relube and make another 1.5-2.5 complette turns PASS the last point you turned the bolt to the last time.
AGAIN DO NOT FORCE THE BOLT take your time, take less turns if needed to help ensure you do not strip the frame weld nut. Because if you do you are going to have to do a lot more work to fix it.
REPEAT the steps above until you are able to make @6-8 complette turns.
This will help clean out the rust and other crap out of the thread holes AND ENSURE you don't strip the frame weld nuts.Make sure to use antiseize on bolts that use the spring washer/lock washers and locktight (use only a little bit) OR antiseize on the ones that do not use spring washer/lockwasher.

I only needed to chase 3/4 holes. But they had some rust in the thread. If I would have force it they would have definately strip them. None of the bolts that had to be remove reguired break free/penetrate oil on my rig.
But your rig might needsome.
Installation is possible by one person using regular ramps. But alot easier if you have another set of hands.
I also did my install from aft to foward (fuel to front skid). Made it easy.

Re: Full Aluminum Skids **** GROUP BUY ******

My decal was a little messed up in the box. Dorel is sending me another one with the small bracket that was missing. The frt skid comes with a thick plastic Rasta emblem epoxied right on the skid.
