oh, i was hoping they would be similar to total chaos/camburg upper arms, not an adjustable OE style replacement...
Ditto that, I got all excited.

They are ofset more than the stock arms are to allow more downtravel and extra clearance between the spring and control arm at full droop.

May be we could powdercoat them orange! LOL
No seriously they are about functionality. The adjustability is something all aftermarket UCAs need. I know of several FJ's that had problems with alignment after installing other brands of aftermarket non adjustable UCA's.
The ball joint is also a larger size than stock and not an exposed ball that will wear and make noise like some have.

The Icon's are great; definately the best looking, we sell those too.

Are these necessary with a standard OME medium lift?

That question could stir up a major debate
Honestly I dont think so; neiter does ARB/OME but I have seen where the caster does get all the way on the lower end or out of spec when you are pushing 3" lift or more in the front. These control arms will compesate for that and add some adjustability which will give better control.

We have 3 1/2" lift on the front of Don's FJ and the same on the front of our 2007 4Runner with stock upper control arms. The alignment on both was adjustable to within spec except the caster was on the low side. They both drive great although there is a more stable feeling driving a lifted FJ with aftermarket UCA'a

Re: Light Racing Adjustable Upper control arms Group buy!

Do they offer anymore tire clearance? If you could run a 285/70/17 on a tacoma with these with stock wheels you would probably sell a ton of them as they would serve two purposes then, fix alignment and allow bigger tires on OEM wheels.

I ran TC UCA's on my 05 tacoma and HATED them, they constantly squeaked from the time they were knew until I sold the truck, I could get them to stop squeaking for a few days by loading them up with teflon lube but then it would come right back....the sealed ball joint on these are really appealing to me.

As far as the clearance; good question! We are looking into that now, I will have an answer Monday.

We have aftermarket UCA's on our Tacoma too and have noise problems everytime we go off road; it comes back squeeking like crazy! We also have too much caster after all was said and done; it affected the camber setting and we could not get it low enough to avoid tire wear.
We never try and bash any other companies products but I think the light Racing UCA's have some definate advantages over other's on the market, at the same time if you are running the baja something else may be the ticket!

Re: Light Racing Adjustable Upper control arms Group buy!

Update:
The Upper control arms definitely do have additional clearance in both the area between the tire/control arm and the area next to the spring on the inside of the arms.
I am trying to get a set of the stock arms so I can post pictures of the additional clearance.

Re: Light Racing Adjustable Upper control arms Group buy!

After getting my Sway-A-Way suspension installed, the alignement center could not get my alignment completely within spec at the full end of the adjustment range. Close....very close....but not completely. I am sure these (or any of the other aftermarket UCAs) would do the trick. Just.....need.....more....mod....money!!

Maybe I can win a set at the Summit Raffle
