Why are these SO EXPENSIVE? The website says they have a special deal for forum members ... only $420 for the side rack and rear rack! Hmmm. Deal?
you get what you pay for, my friend! I was a bit weary of the prices for the rear/side racks at first too (but I'm just that way with $$$), but when you see what you're getting, it is SO WORTH IT! High quality stuff.... this isn't crap from Wal-Mart or Home Depot (no offense to those guys though ) The racks and the MOLLE bags would probably survive a tornado I plan on keeping my FJ for a really long time and want stuff that's gonna last right along side of it and won't fall off/apart in a month...

Sand Rat,
The Forum special is a 20% savings over the retail website...Hmmm, I wonder if you sent the same commentary to ARB, WARN, Donahoe, and the others on your mods list? Don't forget UPS too, they are pretty expensive
To answer your question in short...because it is expensive to MAKE our product. There is a great deal of labor, and investment (both time and money) to make/distribute a product. For a person who obviously has decent taste in mods...and has obviously spent a lot of money on mods, I am suprised to see that our product stands out in your eyes as "EXPENSIVE".
...
To all of our current customers...Thank You!!!
Doc
Doc~
I absolutely agree with your point about people spending big $$$ on other mods... honestly, I'd never spend a $grand on a bumper, but that's just me I guess if I had that kind of money to throw around, I would...
I'm extremely happy with your products and the craftsmanship behind the M-PAC Springtail racks... not to mention, the awesome customer service... I'd buy from you guys in a heartbeat again, even if I found the product somewhere else cheaper...

I never said I felt like I paid a fair price for my mod$...more than if it were a Tacoma, that's for sure.
btw---If you needed a heavy bull bar, you'd buy a $1000 bumper with some bright driving lights. A small deer can end your life and when your main purpose for a vehicle is driving BLM and open range areas, they get a lot bigger than bambi

I am still trying to get the "Scorpion" mount fabricated. It will allow Doc's M-PAC racks to be mounted above/behind the back seat. When that happens there will be bags all the way across the back/top and a shotgun mounted on the forward portion of that bulkhead. So the bag will ultimately go there and the power tank will be moved to the other side of the FJ, attached to the Scorpion mount (an endoskeleton made of DOM) that will fit in the back of the FJ. At the moment, my first aid kit (large) is on the other wall of the FJ attached to the shopping bag hooks (OEM hooks). When it's done I'll get some racks from Doc and put 'em in there to create considerably more storage and hard points than now exist.
Larry,
Do you have a drawing/sketch of how you want to lay things out in back? I'm having an "opportunity for improvement" trying to picture it...
Thx,
Bob

If you're going to the Summit, it should be installed by then... It's a rigid endoskeleton made of 1" DOM tubing that is designed primarily to hold gear. It's not a roll cage. However if you think of a tubing box in the very back/cargo area you'll be right on the money. COWBOY4x4 is doing the work on it through his company Overland XT. It will have at least one Springtail MPAC rack (the one designed for the Jeep TJ) mounted on it. The Scorpion Mount will be able to mount two of the Jeep TJ MPAC racks on its rigid framework.
