I never thought of doing it with a roller, great idea!
It also ends up being less $$ to do it with a roller to. And if you are like me, that first painting is important. With the roller I am able to get a thicker application than with the rattle can. If I remember correctly, it was a little faster too..

Re: Thanks Bud!!

How much did you get for the Bud Builts, since it's a group buy I imagine that they are fairly discounted.

Re: Thanks Bud!!

i would also like to thank you, NCFJ, for making this GB available for us. Also, thanks for letting me know Bud was coming down to Raleigh and would be willing to bring my skids with him. I spoke with Bud on the phone briefly and he sounds like a genuinely nice guy. i am looking forward to meeting him and getting my set of skids! Thanks Bud! Thanks Stan!

Re: Thanks Bud!!

Group buy or not, I am PROUD to have BudBuilt skids on my FJ Cruiser and quite honestly, wouldn't have ANYTHING else protecting the bottom of my rig.

Bud has EARNED a reputation of solid quality, of peerless customer service and of honesty in dealing with members of this forum. There are vendors that I trust more than others. Jason DeMello is one name that comes to mind when I think of 100% trust. Bud is the other.

A most sincere thanks, Bud!

Re: Thanks Bud!!

Another big thanks to Bud and Stan for getting this together. I know GBs are a big hassle. I'm glad I was going through the area to get mine.

For those close to Bud, I highly recommend going to his shop and checking things out. Bud ran me through their entire operations and showed me a few things that are coming for the FJ. Very cool stuff. I wish I had remembered to bring my camera in with me, but I was too enamored with all the shiny pieces around me.

My skids have been curing all week to let the paint fully harden. When I fly back in tonight, it will be hard not to try to put them on in the dark. I went with a red to match some of the other bits that contrast my BD.

Re: Thanks Bud!!

Re: Thanks Bud!!

Yeah, I wish I had thought of the roller idea before I started painting them all up. Oh well, Three coats of primer and two coats of paint should keep the rust out until they are good and scratched up.

The directions that Bud provides for installation are extremely detailed. It's very nice to have an engineer who can put together detailed documentation.

Re: Thanks Bud!!

Got my Buds on yesterday. Crawling around under the FJ was a pain in the rain, but the end result was so worth it!

Shot right after install. Didn't even take it down from the ramps yet.

Given all the mud I had up under the stock skids. I think I may have broken even on the weight.

Re: Thanks Bud!!

Too funny Matt, I found a bunch of mud up under mine too. SKids went on like a breeze. I went out and tested mine a little at Tellico Yesterday. We had a great time and the knowledge that those skids were in place took worry out of the picture.

Think you might be able to make Harlan, KY in August, sure would like to meet up and wheel with you.

The red looks cool!!
