Re: Gobi Ladder Group Buy! $184.99

This has taken way too long. I'm not very pleased with how this all went down. Maybe next time work a bit more with Gobi prior to this to figure out what it will take on your end and Gobi's end. I hope I don't sound ungrateful for this great deal but this seemed to be over extended by quite a bit.

I have yet to receive my ladder or confirmation number.

Attention everyone. Gobi called me today and told me all remaining ladders will be shipped tomorrow. There was a hold-up on the ladders lower brackets.

Thanks for your understanding!

So does that mean my ladder is shipping out tomorrow? I thought you said it already shipped. I still have not seen it, and its been way longer than anything I've ordered, group buy or not, for years. I agree with the post above.

Re: Gobi Ladder Group Buy! $184.99

UncleB, your tacking # was issued days ago, I will resend it to you. It shows initiated and according to GOBI it will be released to FedEx promptly.

Jeremiahak, you are in Fairbanks, Alaska and since your not in the lower 48 it was "sent" USPS. Its in their hands now I am told so please be patient, I promise it will be there.

TRM82R, your in Canada and yours also has been shipped and is in CUSTOMS hands so we have no control over it. I have requested 5 times a way to track out of USA shipments and they are working on it. Its not that easy but we are trying.

As far as the comment of not sounding ungrateful:

I do not begrudge anyone for anticipating their order and have stated a number of times to those who called me to feel free to call me at any time if they wish to discuss their particular order. And in so I again extend that offer. You ordered a product and have that right.

Unfortunately anyone that has ordered from a manufacturer before will have gone through the same issues in order/turn-around. GOBI is a small sized manufacturer not a wholesale distributor. What that means is your ladder is custom made by them and may or may not be sitting on a shelve waiting for a new home. A distributor buys some inventory and lets it sit on their shelves, in so every day it sits on a shelve its cost of purchase goes "up" because they have money tied up in that item. So they can not sell at lower prices as compared to a manufacturer.

GOBI can not and does not keep a large stock of any item they sell. In matter of fact their items are so well sought throughout the world that there are times one days order will wipe out most of their stock.

So why did I not coordinate with GOBI to stock up for you guys? Simple, I could have placed our group buy post, & maybe one order come in and GOBI had moved all their efforts in making a large amount of only FJ ladders and not fulfilled any of their previously ordered ladders and racks in time. That would not have been wise or fair to other customers orders.

Their manufacturing process is by "hand", not by automated machines, thus the quality you want and deserve is there but the time needed is longer to make. That is "not" where the hold up has been. The process is:

A) GOBI makes the ladder
B) **Ladder shipped to coating / paint company
C) Ladder shipped back to GOBI
D) Item packed at GOBI and shipped

The coating / paint company has other contracts other than GOBI and was overwhelmed with your orders as compared to the normal flow they receive from GOBI. Remember we had a GOBI rack group buy at the same time and each rack received a ladder as well, that doubled the ladders orders.

Believe me when I tell you the employees at GOBI were working overtime to get your ladders out but one of the owners PAUL (which is not usually in the shop...he is over QC and development) was in the shop actually bending and welding your ladders along side his employees...I saw it when I was there.

Paul will NOT allow junk to come out of his shop and if it took him to be there to help out the heavy load he did it to assure you all got what you paid for...QUALITY.

So in short, we could have said "orders may take longer than expected to receive", and possibly will do that on the next GOBI offer. But would that have made the shipping anticipation any less? No, I am afraid not. I am "not" explaining all of this to say your feelings are not legitimate, they are!

We and my company are doing the best we can and ask that you extend an understanding for such a great group buy. We will do our best to express any anticipated time delays on other products we will offer.

Any of you that had ordered the Staun tire deflators saw we shipped them immediately and thus in your hands in no time. That is how we like things to be, but it's not always so. I too order things over the net for personal use and "understand" you completely.

Thank you all for being there to support this group buy because it was "all of you" that made it happen!

Re: Gobi Ladder Group Buy! $184.99

I agree its taken time ?

but to hummers credit when I emailed him he responded very very fast and kept me up on whats going on !

so that customer service is a good thing to me

I got issued a number also and no ladder ? but again it sounds like he thought they were sent ? so kicked him a email and within a hour or less ? basically when I checked my email there was a reply there thats cool !

maybe lesson learned to follow up more ? and I always say when I am perfect I can ***** at others but I am far from that so maybe its a island thing but no worries kinda attitude so I am happy and will deal with them again if they have some things I want

now just waiting for my ladder

Re: Gobi Ladder Group Buy! $184.99

I appreciate the detailed explanation, and I understand full well all of the issues. I am a small business man my self.

However, none of this information was available to joe schmo before making all of our initial commitments to purchase this item. Most of us made the assumption that the group buy would proceed in a similar manner to other group buys we've participated in over the years. I think that we are all justified in having made that assumption because of the way that you presented the group buy initially.

You probably should have let everyone know that Gobi may have difficulty dealing with a large response to your group buy, but that they would burn the midnight oil getting us the best damn ladders in the world. Nobody who is reasonable would expect a small niche company like Gobi to have the capacity to deal with excessive work load, and if this had been understood upfront I don't think it would have become an issue.

The only reason I am beating my drum on this issue is that I think your company would be well served to learn this lesson now. Every project I oversee is an oppurtunity for me to learn and grow in my craft, and I make damn sure to pay attention to these oppurtunitys. Learning from my management mistakes (made daily) is how I continue to improve not only my viability at work, but also my character as a human as well.

I think that this is an oppurtunity for you guys. Thats all. Take it for what its worth.

BTW- I would still like you to honor our agreement on the Stauns

Re: Gobi Ladder Group Buy! $184.99

I did finally receive my tracking info and it was delivered today. I just want to add that even though I was frustrated by the delays along with everyone else, I do understand the coordination issues and did appreciate the updates and feedback. I've had much worse communication from many vendors and it is appreciated even when (especially when) things go differently than expected.

Thanks again for coordinating the group buy and I'm happy with my purchase.

Re: Gobi Ladder Group Buy! $184.99

I received this letter this morning from GOBI. I hopes this helps. Your business savvy is greatly appreciated and we will take lessons as you said.

And yes I will still honor the Staun Group Buy for you.

To Gobi Customers:

I understand that many of you are anxious to receive product that you have ordered. Please understand that we are doing everything possible to ship the orders as soon as possible. A few Gobi Ladder orders have been entered into FEDEX and you should have an e-mail that confirms this however there were a couple of quality issues for which we held back from shipping these orders until Tomorrow. If you track them by tomorrow after 5 PM mountain standard time you will see that they have been picked up and are on their way. We apologies for the inconvenience but please be assured that we would rather you wait a few more days in order to receive our High Quality Product with all the components that need to accompany each item.

At GOBI USA we are committed to working close with all our Customers and Distributors and I know personally that Istvan is a great distributor to work with. Please note that we do not usually discount our product however we worked with Istvan to offer a special program. Please do not reflect any delay on his behalf as he has no control after all orders have been submitted.

We thank everyone for their business and support of our products and wish you many new Adventures. If any member has any questions or concerns, please contact me direct.

Re: Gobi Ladder Group Buy! $184.99

GREAT! I am extremely happy you received it. Now if you don't mind sending us a picture of it installed we will possibly use it on our new website OffRoadGears.com (95% completed).

As to the Staun's:

We have six left in inventory and ordering more, so if anyone wants one of the remaining six send us an e-mail;

A) User Name
B) Name
C) Address to ship to
D) Phone #

Payment: By calling us (918) 851-3053 VISA / MASTER CARD or PayPal using our e-mail address sales@HummerGearSales.com

$56.99

Thanks everyone!

PS I know not all of you use or want a locking painted spare tire cover but that is out next group buy. And and...we do offer hand dipped interior parts to turn your interior color into the same / different color as your exterior or wood grain / carbon fiber look. These are NOT stick-on's....this the real hand processed method and we do the steering wheels as well.
