Didn't know there was a gun section on this FJ Cruiser Forum. Since I found this section if anyone has any WWII guns of their parents or grandparents and your wanting to sell them let me know. I collect them.
I have my dad's 1911 that he carried on his B-24 Liberator in the 484th BG. It has the original holster and 2 extra mags with the military ball ammo. Not interested in selling though. To much sentimental value. I take it out of the safe once a year, strip it, and clean it then put it back in there.

You dad flew with the 484th BG? Thats kool. Those guys seen more during those years that you or I will see in a lifetime. The 484th flew a lot of rough missions. We all owe those guys a lot. They really are the Greatest Generation.
If you ever decide to part with any of his war time items, please let me know. I collect WWII guns and WWII aviation items.
If I knew how to download photo's here I would post some pictures of my collection.
I have a Japanese 7mm rifle that my father obtained in hand to hand combat in the South Pacific. I also have the Japanese flag the soldier was carrying in his breast pocket as well. Far too much familly history for me to sell.
I have Springfield M1 Garand from WWII and Korean War I bought through CMP.....great shooter.

I have his diary which ties to several missions which you read about in the history books. We also found some aerial shots of Polosti, and a few other drops he made (He was Bombadier). One of the coolest things we found is a picture of one of the bridges he bombed. It was hanging in the store window in his hometown. Back then we were proud of what we accomplished oversees and publicized the victories. He flew out of Torretta, Italy and their crew brought the plane over from Nebraska. Some Cool stuff. I take it out and read the book every couple of years.
