get off of your high horse

i went to a dealership today to get some bulbs and saw a "new" 08 4x2 sunfu sitting on the lot.

nothing special, but it stickered for 30k.

toyota, get over it.

the times you can charge premiums for your cars are long dead. that was back when your cars lasted forever and were rock solid.

the frail plasticky things you sell these days are NOT the land cruisers of 1980 that could run 300k miles as long as the body didn't rot off.

rattles, squeaks, bulging fenders, frail clutches, whining belts, idler pulleys, soft bodies. you have a lot of nerve to piss on the reputation of rock solid vehicles you have established.

hmmm bad day? The problems that the FJ have are really not that bad. Im sure the majority of FJ's will still drive for 300k without many problems

Not to feed the rant, but the pricing you're seeing isn't Toyota's fault, it's the dealer's.

True, unless he's talking about MSRP. Which is still pretty steep for a 4x2.

Still not as bad as Chevy. I went in looking at a new Camaro and they had a 5k mark up. I asked if they would take sticker, and the sales guy did everything he could to keep from laughing at me. He says..
"Sorry, but the mark up stays."
So i started laughing back at him.
He asks me..
"And what are you laughing at?"
I tell him..
"The fact that your company just declared bankruptcy and at any time this dealer could get the call that they will be one of the ones being closed down,... But yet you still don't want to deal. Good luck with that."

He wasn't smiling, nor laughing after that. Really is sad though. It wasn't like i was asking them to sell it to me at cost.

So why do you still own it ?
I do agree that 30K is too much.

Re: get off of your high horse

So soon we forget that were not driving a Toyota. We're all riving Hino's with a Toyota driveline.

And a Toyota badge.

I love my FJ, but like any vehicle early in it's product line, it's not without fault. Not sure if we'll get to see them iron out the deficiencies, but I certainly hope so.
