Rear doors a little to heavy and cumbersome!

1: The rear doors are just barely too heavy for a person sitting in the rear to close themselves when they are sitting, Also I don't appreciate the strange slanted angle they open which adds to the difficulty... That and there's no handle to pull it closed besides the bottle holder... Also, the front passenger must unbuckle to let a rear passenger out.. The seat belts should be built into the seat like the Honda element, thus eliminating this hassle.

2: The trunk should be a split tailgate like the Range Rover / LR3 / Honda element. Place to sit and its a lot less cumbersome than a sideways opening.

We've also got a honda element in the family, and the elements rear suicide doors are 10 times easier to use... (unfortunately its also 10 times more boring to drive)

Pull on the seatbelt attached to the door. It is much easier to close that way. You may have to pull fast on it to get it to catch and not let the seatbelt out.

I'll agree on the seatbelt thing, but the rear side doors are too heavy?

I've ridden in the back of my truck, it's up to the people up front to close them, it's a pain for the back passengers to deal with.

Ahhh... but the point has been missed here.
Those doors are heavy by design and meant to convert your pasengers into humans equally tough as the FJ they ride in.

Re: Rear doors a little to heavy and cumbersome!

i agree on #2... the doors should be split. like a barn yard door. further more they should have some type of options from the factory to divide the cargo area a little more... ie. partitions... like the volkswagon has...

Re: Rear doors a little to heavy and cumbersome!

I disagree with number 2. I would much rather the back door be tailgate style like the old school 4runners in the 80s. Being able to roll the back window down from the driver's seat while driving around would be awesome. I know it sounds minor, but that is one of my biggest pet peeves with my FJ. I would love to get good airflow through the FJ in the summer with the front and rear window down.

#1 Weak

#2 Rather see what ambulance doors would be like. Would probably hate the horizontal split.

I wish the current model could be rolled down via a switch also. My ladder has made it completely useless.
