What did you do to the 4Runner?!?!

So the other day I got my latest issue of Toyota Trails and was saddened by what I saw. I guess the way the layout worked out might have been purely coincidental but I thought it was funny that if you open the mag and look at the cover and back-cover next to each other, the front shows a modded red 4Runner from back in the day, showing what those rigs could do and right next to it (on the back of the magazine) is ... a red 4Runner ... but what I assume is a 2010, and it looks like it has the ground clearance of a civic and lost all its bite

I know that demand for cars is changing and they have to produce what will sell and what the public wants and all that ... but seeing the two beside each other made me kinda sad.

I know what you mean. I owned 2nd and 3rd gen 4Runners wheeled them and loved them. The 4th gens where complete disappointments! They can't wheel worth shiat. I haven't read up on the 5th gen 4Runner, but all of the advertisements I've seen depict the new 4Runner to be rugged and capable. I also read that it has all of Toyota's fancy shmancy electronic off road stuff, like crawl control.

I guess we will have to see. I myself am wanting to sell my FJ and buy a FJ62 to wheel. I'm going old school! Back to the roots.

Yep, sort of a down hill trend in my mind.
