seats wearing

six weeks into ownership, 3000 miles and the black material on the outside seat back is definitely "fuzzy" Driver side only at this time.....If it does this in six weeks, what is it going to look like in another six months? Is anyone else noticing any undue wear or do i have a big butt? Guess we will see how Toyota warranty handles this one.

Re: seats wearing

My little butt has caused the same wear on my driver's seat....particularly on the side bolster.

Re: seats wearing

Check elsewhere on this forum. There have been previous threads about it and I remember that some had Toyota replace the seat (covers?) under warranty. One person mentioned that Toyota came out to investigate their situation.

Re: seats wearing

I'll probably get them to wear pretty bad, have Toyota cover them, and then get seat covers. It happens to cloth seats. The ones in my Subaru are pretty well knit though.

Re: seats wearing

My thoughts on this issue are: It's a little soon to know for sure but, I don't think its wear. I think it's "Pilling"
Not uncommon even in the best furniture.
The initial fabric tuft sheds from friction BUT once its done its done.
It is disturbing when it first happens because you think its wear and that it will continue until god knows what happens.

We'll see... but, I think thats what it is.

Re: seats wearing

My seat cover came from the factory with some pilling. A replacement is in but I have not had it replaced since they want to keep the FJ for 8 hours. I'll just stop wearing my velcro pants.

Re: seats wearing

Anyone else having problems with seat wear?

Check there.

My Dealer replaced my driver's side seat cover @ approx 3,000 miles. I'm at 13.5k and my Driver's seat is starting to show again and my passenger's seat is getting pretty bad.....

Thats why I didn't get mine replaced. Same cover - it was going to happen again. Once the pilling stopped, it didn't reoccur in my rig.

Life Span of a Seat: New..... Pill...... not new..... no pills. Time will tell!
