Just detailed and waxed...

I haven't seen a thread about this in a while, so I thought I would post the results of my Detailing experience this weekend. For those of you who haven't searched, there is some very good threads about what people are using. In fact, I got a lot of great info from the good folks from this forum... So thanks to all.

Well, it started with me spending over $200 on detailing stuff 2 weeks ago, here's a list and my ratings:

-DP xtreme foam auto shampoo (apparently, when you buy good stuff it's called shampoo and not car wash ) Great stuff, water sheets off the FJ much better, and the spots and stains seemed to come off much easier
-P21S total auto wash (didn't use this time, but I hear it's really good)
-Pinnacle foam master foam gun This was very good, It foamed up the FJ nicely. and took off a lot dirt and grim just by using this. only complaint is that the nozzle leaks, so it looks like you pee'd your pants for the rest of the day
-Klasse Vinyl, Leather, Rubber, and Plastic cleaner/protectant great stuff, I used this on the black part of the bumpers and trim, they look wet all the time now, and it even removed some "whitening" on the back corner trim peice that I thought would never come out.
-Pinnacle Crystal mist spray wax Excellen, I used this in conjuction with the Klasse Sealant, as well as on it's own at the end of the process. The result were fantastic.
-Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire Gel great, tires still look wet 24 hours and 60 miles after application
-DP Interior Surface Protectant (haven't used this yet)
-Pinnacle Safe Scrub bug and tar pad This stuff, in conjuction with the Poorboy's Bug Squash, was fantastic!! hardly had to scrub at all to remove the plethora of bugs that have sacrificed themselves to the FJ
-Poorboy's Bug squash
-Klasse Super Size kit (Klasse all-in-one, and Klasse Sealant) Excellent! The Sealant was a little hard to get off, but I think that was because I was using too much. After using this the paint feels very "slippery" and smooth.

-and a variety of microfiber towels and applicator pads

The whole process took about 6 hours, but it can be done much quicker. all the products were actually very easy to use. The results were fantastic. I have had several people ask me what it did to it. What I really like is how smooth and slippery the paint feels now.

One thing I discovered was that the Clear Film Protection that I had put on when I first bought the FJ is AWSOME!!!! I found little chips on the sides, but none on the front where the Film is, not a scratch, except above the windshield, where it looks like it was hit by a rock. However, the film did it's job there too, the film was torn but the paint is intact without a scratch!

Hope this was helpful
I will try to post some pics when I get my camera working again

good luck!

Re: Detail Products: works great/ looks great

Wise and noble, thanks for this information. Got the truck nice and dirty this weekend and am going to need to use an array of cleaning products on the truck. I'll add to this post if I come across a solution that works well on the interior carpets and seat fabric.
