What mods do you wish you hadn't done.

Hey, We learn from our mistakes (sometimes). So Vets help us kids out. Lets save time and money. What mods have you done that you wish you hadn't done?

I put on taillight guards. It took me over 4hrs. A very tough install. "kinda" like the black heavy duty ones I bought, but to much work and money for a "kinda" like mod.

Re: What mods do you wish you hadn't done.

Submarine dive horn. Didn't work out. Turned a lot of heads, but not really in a good way. More like "what the he11 was that?' Replaced with Bad Boy airhorn and 20amp fuse.

4' whip antenna - dumb - should have got 2' where it would fit in the garage without taking it on and off. Looks good on there though. Firestik blue.

Painted the calipers blue - lol - was bored - doesn't look bad, but doesn't really add anything either.

Rear column speakers - 4" DBs - not worth all the work with spacers and getting the damn things out for a speaker that will now get drowned out by two big subs

LED dome lights - worthless - went to PIAAs

8" replacement sub - Momo - then decided to can that idea.

5-channel amp for stereo, then decided on a 4-channel + a separate mono amp because the 5th channel would be marginal to push two large subs.

Turning the roof rack into a Mini-rack. Happy now, but if I knew what a pain it is to get those bolts out .. then go fishing in the headliner for retainers ... forget it.

In my rush to play with mods I have made foolish mistakes that I didn't think through, but no big harm done.

Painting my roof black.....Wish I had not done it....Although I like the solid black look but I do miss the white roof every now and then....My FJ is one of the few black sheeps in the FJ family.....

Re: What mods do you wish you hadn't done.

Changed the Mirror lights with Amber LED bulbs, I personally think it matches the parking lights. But BE CAREFUL with the mirrors when taking them out. Put a sleeping bag or some padding under the mirror housing so if it slips out of your hand you don't break the mirror!!!!

Replacing the speakers, that is almost a must. Stock speakers aren't the highest quality speakers.

Hello chewey46 it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

Re: What mods do you wish you hadn't done.

Nothing yet. I am minimal with mods and would never mod the body / paint / interior in any way. I prefer functional mods like tires, bumpers, winches, etc.

I already stand out as a person so prefer things stealth.

The only thing that i would change would be doing them faster than I did.
