Lund vent visors, AVS bugflector

Just installed a set of in-channel Lund Vent Visors and an AVS bug deflector
(same parent company).

Comments on the installs:

You have to be really careful to find the real hood center for the bug
deflector. Things you may ASSUME to be equidistant on-center aren't. No,
I don't know this because I screwed up, I know this because I avoided
same What I finally did was to use the two 'channels' on the silver
grille insert and make a center mark between these two in pencil, while
wishing for a crayon.

Then I closed the hood and transferred the mark to the lip of the hood, and
on back. That worked. I chose not to use the screw-holes at this time;
I may if things come loose at all, and it wouldn't surprise me if they do
as this thing is quite far away from the sheet metal when properly placed
according to the conturs of the mounting tabs.

Lund seems to want you to put the vent visors IN the top window
channel and between the rubber and the sheet metal at the front.
Well, that ain't gonna happen on the FJ, as things are just the wrong
shape. But it slips right in-channel all around and the windows seem
to work well. Bit of a 'clunk as the trailing edge passes the visor on
the passenger side. But it doesn't hang up. No such thing on driver's
side. Also on the passenger side, things seem a bit loose at the bottom
and that kind of concerns me. Like a drop or two of weatherstrip adhesive
might not go amiss if it persists.

The windows are now 'setting' the stickum, so we'll see how
well it works. In retrospect, I probably would have done the stick-ons.

I'll try and take some pics to post if the sun comes out again.

At first blush, I like the look; and I think my hair and windscreen
will like the result.

I also installed the AVS in-channel. I only use in-channel because I will not stick anything like that to my paint. When I first installed them the driver's side hit it more than I wanted. But leaving the windows rolled up for 24 hours and getting into some sun/warmth also helped as I actually left mine rolled up for 2 days. Now it does not hit at all.

Re: Lund vent visors, AVS bugflector

My Lund in channels do not hit at all.
This is my first set of in channels, I have always used the tape on ones in the past, no more.
In channels rock!

I think I am going for the same hood shield though that BDFJ has.
