Bug deflector install, pics.

A month or so ago I ordered a Lund bug deflector from Performance Products part #182609 (Bugflector & Bugflector II Bugflector II -1pc Smoke). For some interesting reason it is not currently showing up on their web site. It was $49.95 including free shipping.

It arrived a few days ago and I just installed it. It has a fairly sharp upward curve and should help keep the bugs off the windshield (if that's possible).

Installation was fairly easy although you should have a straight ruler handy to make sure it is centered. I did not trust the (total) of 6 inches of double sided tape to hold it on so I used the 4 included screws which went in with a small pilot hole.

First I cleaned everything and removed the cover from the tape. The I centered the deflector and used the tape to hold it in place. Finally I drilled and screwed it.

For the price it seems a heck of a bargain.

Philipl -

It's still there on the web site. If you type in Lund or the part number in the search box, it will pull it up.

Thanks for the info, btw!!! I am ordering mine now!! At that price, I agree with you!! NOW THAT'S A BARGAIN...if it works the way it is supposed to work.

Re: Bug deflector install, pics.

Looks Good. If you have a chance, could you take pictures to show where you placed the holes? I NEED a bug deflector but am nervous about the drilling/screwing part.

Thanks,
Matt

Re: Bug deflector install, pics.

Please report on the effectiveness of this product, we're all looking for anything to divert bugs/little rocks from our thin skin of FJ glass.

Here is the picture with the screws. It was quite simple.

Is there any difference between the product you purchased and the OEM version selling on Toyota sites for almost twice the amount?

From what I understand, the after-market one either is 3M stuck on or you drill new holes for mounting screws; the toyota one from Matt uses existing screws to mount it. (for the price difference, I will go with existing screw holes, get the toyota version)

Huge Advantage for the OEM. Now I am having a hard time finding any real deals on these... Most of the vendors seems to be selling between 90 and 120.

Have you found anything better than that?
