Dakar Bar Stock Headlight Obstruction Fix

Well, I couldn't notice any difference in the lighting, but there was a nag in the back of my mind that my lights may be partially obstructed by the fog lights mounted on my Dakar Bar in the default holes.

So, since I had to spend part of the day at work today, I ran out in the shop for a while.

I cut a 31" x 1-1/2" bar of 1/4" thick material. I drilled holes in the same locations as the Dakar bar so that I could mount the bar onto the Dakar tabs.

I then drilled two holes for the fog lights in the new bar, just inside the tabs. The center driving lights I kept in the same location. Here is the result.

No more obstruction.

Nice fix. Looks much better. Did you switch out the bulbs in the headlights too? Looks like they have a blue tint to them now.

edit: you posted at the same time as me, you did switch them.

Yeah, I'm done with lights for a while. Just a bit more $ and I'll be moving on to bigger things.

No. No I don't. I like lights up higher than any water I might go through. I had a Suzuki and a Tacoma with the same set up (minus the Dakar Bar).

It was a joke, but the setup screams a desert racing truck.

The Dakar bar is the most ideal setup for lights--since at the front of the vehicle is where you get the best illumination of the road ahead.

On the roof you're just blasting your hood and the sky, and either pretty damn stupid.

I'm mounting a set of IPF Supper Rallys on the ARB bumper of my 40.

I looked at the IPF's, but with no report (good or bad) on their performance, I stuck with what I knew. Can't wait to see the pics of your set up, if you post them somewhere.

I got sidetracked with bleeding the brakes on my mountain bike and barfed DOT 3 brake fluid all over the garage floor.
