How did you get the mirrors off to get to the mirror lights? The manual says you have to get up in there with a thin screwdriver and pry the mirror off the plastic claws which hold it to the mount, and says heating up the mirror helps. Is there any trick to this? I hate the plastic claws, always afraid of snaapping the mfs off..
White Rim,
There are some good threads with pics on this (from Chatsworth maybe?). Just do a search. I hear what you are saying as I thought I had shattered both of my side mirrors while removing them. Despite the pressure that needs to be applied to pop them off, they seem to survive ok. Good luck!

I just put in all the PIAA bulbs for the headlights, dome lights, mirror lights, & back up lights.
WOW... Every one of those changes was so well worth it.
The headlights rock! WAY brighter...
The dome lights make it look so sick inside. I think those cost 12 bucks for the pair. That makes it look so much nicer inside.
The backups are so much brighter... and the mirror lights get rid of that nasty faded yellow.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Here's the part numbers if anyone's interested in doing it themselves:
PIAA BULBS
Headlights - #881044 -Extreme White Plus - H4 60/55W=110/100W - $63.95
Mirrors - #800593 - PIAA Extreme White - 168 - $11.75
Backup - #865026 - PIAA Extreme White - W2 - $12.95
Dome - #865032 - T-6 Dome Extreme White - 10W - $12.95
I couldn't agree more regarding the change these lights make. I just swapped out my ARB winch bumper IPF fog lights last night (kind of a pita).
ARB winch bumper IPF round fog replacement bulb - #15235 - PIAA Xtreme White - H3 - cheapest I've seen are around $40.00

I replaced my headlights with PIAA H4's as well after Northshore Vodoo recommended them and it's a huge difference. Overhead interior are next, can't find anything in the center storage at night....

can the electrical system handle the bulbs? I replaced my bulbs in my explorer a few years ago (with xenon's), and blew out the lighting circuit.
I know it was a lack of judgement on my part to ever buy a ford - I strayed, but I'm back on the right path again!

The PIAA H4's actually draw less juice than stock...

I've been running PIAA bulbs for 10 years or so. Here is a picture with one bulb changed.
