Re: Powered Rear Window, Build in Process:

Joe, wouldn't it be cheaper to add an air port on one of the existing gas struts and use an air pump to push or pull the strut in or out. I would think it would be less bulky then a linear actuator and the pump could be concealed in the door. Look more stock. Just some food for thought.

I would be interested in having that MOD, but it is lower on the list of MODs because I wouldn't use it/need it as much as others. I think the thing I would use it for the most is letting the dog get some fresh air when he's in the back.

I think its pretty cool! I agree about possibly have a smaller acuator and the only thing I'd do with mine is paint it black so it matches the interior more.

Re: Powered Rear Window, Build in Process:

I would be very interrested in this. I had a LX 470 and the rear windows would wing out with a switch for each side. It was great to get the heat out of the car. I would close them shortly after because of road noise. I just bought the 2010 Fj. Would love this before next summer. Your price is more than fair! Are your refining it?

Re: Powered Rear Window, Build in Process:

Refining is in process.. A few more actuators ordered to see if a smaller lower powered unit works still and putting the final touches on switches, cable and instructions... Look for release Some time in January for February.

Air Powered Hatch struts work, but only for those that have on board air, which is very few of us. Not practical for everyone, so that idea is thrown out.

Re: Powered Rear Window, Build in Process:

Well Hell!! After Testing 4 other actuators.... I should have just stuck with the one I had! So.. that being said.. I need a local Chicago guy that wants to buy one at my cost and let me know how it works out for them so we can get an unbiased reivew on here of how well it does or does not work.. I also will need that truck to photograph and do the install manual for those that purchase it down the road...

If you can't find any stockers willing to play guinea pig, I'll volunteer my rig.
It is out of warranty and I'm pretty sure I f--ked it's resale value years ago, so I could care less

Re: Powered Rear Window, Build in Process:

I am still messing around with the Linkage on this thing... I was hoping to have this available right now... on a demo truck and it just has not been perfect (oem perfect) Still have a little bit of give in my lower mount and I need to right size my hardware to work effectively so there is no give or twist in the mounts.. When they twist a little bit and loosen up, the window can chatter over bumps on the road, some may never notice it... personally, I hear everything so I need to clear this up before I can bring a worthy product to market...
