Smile Springtail MPAC FJ Cruiser Drawer Installed

I installed my MPAC FJ Cruiser drawer today. The installation was pretty straight forward though it is a bit heavy(package 110 pounds). I recommend having a second person help get the drawer into the FJ, I ended up hefting mine in myself as my wife was not available at the time and I just couldn't wait. It took me about an hour or so with a few interruptions here and there(like trimming my back floor mat for use in the bottom of the drawer). I like the drawer system allot, it is definitely heavy duty, rolls very smoothly and holds all my excess stuff I keep in back. The unit was packaged very well and the drawer arrived in perfect condition(Thanks Doc). Overall I'm happy with my purchase.

Lessons learned:

1. Get help putting the drawer in.
2. Loosely bolt in the back angle mounts to your forward hold down points before you put the drawer unit in the back of the FJ.
3 Most of the hardware requires 10mm wrench/ratchet. Use 7/8 wrench to tighten the back nut for the included lock.

That is about it for this post, hope it helps.

Re: Springtail MPAC FJ Cruiser Drawer Installed

Hey Baz, how are you doing?

I was the first to receive and install, . . and I did opt out of the top rails. I like my TRD rubber mat on top the drawer, it protects and adds a nice look to the drawer IMHO.

Carlito

Re: Springtail MPAC FJ Cruiser Drawer Installed

G'day Carlito,
Going great .. thanks.
Lucky you ....
I noticed your TRD mat, it really suits the top.... but with the rails it would be too big.
I'm getting the top rails, and thinking about what to use to protect the top and the draw...
I think Doc mentioned a while back, that checker plate rubber matting is available ... well in the US anyway ... haha .. so maybe something like that ...
I'll figure it out...
once Doc ships mine ....

Thanks n cheers
Baz

a few questions:

Re: Springtail MPAC FJ Cruiser Drawer Installed

G'day PR,
Short answer, you don't / can't access the jack.
and for the power outlet, skinny hands. and a flat plug ...

Neither are issues for me, don't carry the oem jack, and we don't have power in the back... unless you do the mod...

I'm sure Doc has addressed these questions in his thread, and not taking away from the product or Doc .... guess you have to weigh up the other advantages ...

Cheers
Baz
