Lightbulb Great fire extinguisher mounting location!!!

At least I think so...maybe you will too!

I've been debating WHERE to mount my fire extinguisher. I've read what everyone else did but didn't like any of the solutuions (no offense).

So today I was cleaning out the Enchantress when a lightbulb suddenly went on when I realized I has the perfect nook to stick it in. (Get your minds outta the gutter y'all)

I mounted it under the drivers side rear pull-up seat.

It's like it was made to go there.

Here, of course, are the pics!

Since the bottom of this seat has a metal pan under it, all I had to do was to hold the mount into the small depression firmly, drill out two small pilot holes, and run two 1/2 inch sheet metal screws in.

I put a 1/2 inch nut under the bottom screw as a spacer to keep the retaining strap from folding over.

Reattach the extinguisher, turn slightly as pictured to match the angle of the floor ans presto. Took me less than ten minutes to do.

The extinguisher itself is a Kidde Marine B(gas)/C(electrical) rated that I picked up at WalMart (the evil empire...LOL) for $11.95.

The same space exists on the passenger side too and I plan to install a second one there as well (ya never know)!

Happy modding!

That looks tight and clean! Can you still fold your seatback down?

Wow! That's fantastic. Nice work and thank you for the pics. How is the access if you needed to "get to it in a hurry"? (God forbid)

I typically have the rear seats down with stuff setting on them.

I can get out of the vehicle, open the rear door, lift the seat, unsnap the strap and have the extinguisher in hand in less than 15 seconds.

Re: Great fire extinguisher mounting location!!!

My friend that is pure genius. I know because I mounted mine in exactly the same place back in july. The only thing I discovered was that I had to make sure the release was easily snapped off by the hand that would be reaching in there in case of an emergency. With regard to how long it takes to access after a little practice (when the vehicle is stopped of course) it only takes about 5-6 seconds which is far better than if it were mounted in the cargo area or even on the passenger side. the only difference I see is that I dont have to lift the seat to get to it just slide hand in grab release pull and go.

See...great minds do think alike....everything is a comprimise I guess.

The bracket has a fork that the neck snaps into, thus the reason for having to lift the seat. The strap however is just a thumb push and it pops right out. If I practice enough I could probably get it out quicker. My son wanted to ride his scooter and the stopwatch belongs to him so....
