Is it possible to re-anodize or paint wheel rings?

I have 17" Mohave rings and with this size the rings only come in red, blue, or chrome. I'd like to get a black set somehow. Is it possible to re-anodize metal? Or would it make sense just to powdercoat them? Will powdercoat stick to anodized or chromed aluminum. I don't know much about metals. Thanks.

Re: Is it possible to re-anodize or paint wheel rings?

in my bmx days we used oven cleaner to de-anodize,, anodized parts,, cranks, stems, clamps, rims, etc.
if the anodizing process is still the same from 20 years ago,,at least u can get the color off to get down to the bare material.

I talked to my local powder coater about this. She said it could be done, they just fire the wheels, as they are, once to clear any coatings that are on them, then powder coat. I too know nothing about this-just passing on what I was told
Actually, Noisycow, I just read all your posts to see your avatars
