First, let me start by posting some pictures of the installed
rack. Not only is it built to take a beating, it looks good doing it too.
Now the question everyone wants to know: How tall is it?
Here’s a pic of the center showing that the top of the
rack is 8 ¼” taller than the top of the roof.
Here’s a pic showing the height up front just for reference. The
rack is higher on the front of the FJ because of the curved roof line but the
rack is level and is 8 ¼” taller than the top of the roof.
Now, how do you install it?
Remove your stock roof
rack or roof covers. Take out all the bolts and the brackets. Put the supplied rubber seal around the mount holes. It is easiest to press the edges down with a flat blade screwdriver. Install the
rack mounts using the 6x30mm bolts with flat washers. Now it’s time to call a buddy to help lift the
rack onto the top of the FJ. I found the easiest way to do that is lift the
rack from the back of the FJ perpendicular to it and rotate it once you get it on top. Install the 6x20mm bolts with flat washers, lock washers, and L brackets as shown below.

Tip
Use a 1/4" drive 6mm Allen wrench socket, extension, and ratchet setup instead of the supplied Allen wrench.
