Re: Complete Roof Rack Comparison

Dvan thank you for adding a great new resource that I'm sure will get a ton of use.

Can I borrow about a grand?

That's never seemed to stop you before. Kidding aside, I need to save all my dimes for my ride, I've had it three weeks and it's allready sucked down about $1500 in mods and probably will sink another $1100 on tires this week. Did save a couple bucks doing everything myself.

Re: Complete Roof Rack Comparison

I have to say I'm a gobi stealth fan, with it's low profile look and the air dam and rectangular lights. The price is the only thing that doesn't sit right with me. My factory roofrack will have to do for now.

GREAT Post! Here are some other roof rack vendors that I have been watching.

I am holding out to see what the ARB short rack looks like.

Re: Complete Roof Rack Comparison

any chance we can add weight limits for each rack? I think the stocker was like 153lbs.

Re: Complete Roof Rack Comparison

The Gobi looks as it follows the curve of the roof, how about mounting long flat storage boxes on top? That is why I am leaning toward the ARB , it looks flat full length.

Re: Complete Roof Rack Comparison

I am going to buy an FJ, but am puzzled by the factory rack. O what value is it? I wouldn't want to have gear stowed on the roof top itself and scratch the nice white top all up - are there accesories for the stock rack or are you just left with a GOBI?

dvan:
thanks for putting this list together. Con-ferr went out of business and the rack line is now marketed under the defender name (offroad unlimited). No word yet on when the FJC version will be available.
