O.K. here I go, I've been looking a lot at accessories just to see whats out there, and I am a$$-tounded to see what folks are charging for accessories...
$14.95 for a $3.00 autozone blind spot mirrors, $499.00 for billet grab handles, heck there like $199.00 through a dude on here.
Sure people can charge what they want, but I think there should be and expensive "merchants/vendors" sticky kind of shedding light on there super high prices, I'm sure most of us would of like to know there might be a cheaper alternative, and I'd A$$-ume most folks would like to know, If not just for the satisfaction of saying "_____is attempting to sell _____for a crazy expensive price". I'd hate to learn what someone else has already..what about a "I think this is junk" sticky...Tell me where I'm wrong/rite, I can take it, After all I didn't pay $14.95 for blind spot mirrors...

Some of the stuff they come up with in general is silly. Why would you want steel/alu holy-**** handles?(cold in winter and i love hitting my head on them)and skid plates,I will make my own 1st.
exactly I'm sure this thread will go the way of the dodo, but just knowing it was you that alerted someone to your opinion of their price would make me smile, and further validate reading this forum... While seeing the vendor in the bottom right ad space still asking $14.95 for blind spot mirrors, nice buyer feedback by the way (look at how all the good feedback is around the same time, and how the bad feedback is not, classic phony "+" inflation.)

Some of the stuff we come up with is because forum members don't want to pay hundred's of dollars for billet grab handles, but they do want them. Perhaps their tastes are different than yours? So a guy with a CNC mill in his garage makes them and sells them way cheaper than he should. Why? Because he loves FJ's and is happy to make them when he is asked.

Sorry, I thought I was done.
I want to see your skids when you are done them. I bet you can't make them like BudBuilt, All-pro, or Man-a-fre who have been in the game for years and have loads of experience.
If someone is willing to pay 14.95 for blind spot mirror's, there is someone out there willing to sell them for that I'm sure.
Personally, I gawk at some of the pricing for my FJ. How come rock sliders for an FJ are 200 more than rock sliders for a taco? How come it cost 70.00 for a stinkin switch? How come it costs 880.00 for an airdamn with lights (your kidding me, right).
Simply put:
How come = Because there is some fool out there willing to part with 14.95 for Blind Spot Mirror's. Oh yeah, don't forget the 10.00 shipping charge to.

Quite simply, it's called the law of supply and demand. The seller will sell for what the market will yield. I have to disagree with your idea of the sticky for "overpriced vendors". Any vendor has the right to sell an item for what he / she thinks the item is worth or the price that they feel they can get. You as the buyer have the right not to buy said product from that particular vendor. I reallize that you would want to know, as I or anyone else would, that you are not getting screwed when buying something for your rig. But the simple truth is that the vendors pay for this forum. If you out all the vendors for something you feel is a high price, they will not feel compelled to continue supporting this forum. Without the vendors here, there is NO FJCruiserForums.com, unless we all start paying a membership fee. And if you have been around for a while, some of the members tried to start a paid membership here for pennies to get some extra perks and even though it was compltetely voluntary, it went over like a lead balloon.
One last thought and I will get off the soap box. If you are going to sell your car to another person or on a trade, are you going to search the market and find out what the "fair" price to charge is? No!! You will probably have a number in mind before you put it up for sale and you might research to see what others are selling similar vehicles for and adjust yours somewhat but ultimately you want to get top dollar for your sale. A vendor selling a product wants the same thing: to make the most money!!
Sorry...thought I was done!! I applaud FJoel in his abilities and passion for CREATING awesome products for our community. And it is GREAT that he is able to sell to us for a greatly reduced price over the rest of the market place. If you don't like the item / think it's too expensive then don't buy it. I say: FJoel and the rest of our vendors keep up the good work!! I support our vendors whenever I can and when it makes sense!!
I would say you just need to make sure to shop around just like you would do for anything you buy so you get what you feel is a fair price. I would also use the forums to ask if anyone thinks it's a good deal...I have seen people do that alot here and it can sometimes get you a better deal.
What's even funnier, is as I'm typing this I see the mirror's you are talking about are in the ad windows...this is kinda freaky..
IMO to follow:
first I'm not knocking FjJoel very cool idea, not for everyone, I am however giving my opinion with the idea out there that most people will say "$$$$$ for That! you gotta be ______kidding." Or, like the rock sliders "______is cheaper for a tacoma______." something informative and fun for the common reader
I guess I have to say it bluntly DUH I know people can charge what they want, capatilisim I get it... what you may forget with forums like this... folks of a similar mind can also call the merchant out, that's our right.
Is forum better with rippoff vendors?? Let's say for example: Joe honest guy sells in lower left ad box, and on the lower right is carney joe ripster, the left will joe honest continue to place ads when he sees what is to his right... maybe yes maybe no...A lot of things play together, I say keep the crappy vendors on notice, The 4x4 world is so full of scams and product fraud, force the best to rise to the top.
I'm open for opinions since this is mine, also no offense to any honest consumer, to others take it for what it's worth.
