Arrow Off Road Light Recommedations!Help Me Out

I want to put a light bar on the roof rack and I'm finding it difficult to make a decision on which lights to use. I am currently investigating Hella Rallye 4000's. I want (4) 6" lights with significant candlepower. There are also PIAA's, KC's, and ProComps. I don't want to spend more than $150 a light. I don't think I need HID's because the ballasts would be an issue and i'm not spending $300.00 a light. So I come to you, my fellow forumers to help me out. Please leave your two cents especially if you already have a light bar. I value y'alls opinion. Thanks!

Re: Off Road Light Recommedations!help Me Out

If I were to add lights on the roof rack, I would also consider the Lightforce 170s. They're very light (composite housing) and have variable focus with the optional filters. I have IPF960s on my bumper and they're also very good quality for the price range you've specified; the IPF960 housing is aluminum so it's also lightweight.

I have PIAA's, and I would recommend either PIAA white lights (non Yellow) hallogens or HELLA's they get my stamp of approval.

Re: Off Road Light Recommedations!help Me Out

Id go with "KC lites" they are made in America so you pay less right off the bad since you dont have to pay the cost of bringing them over seas. They also have the best warranty, KC has been around a looooooong time. I have the 8" pencil beams, they look like light sabers coming off my bumper.
KC HiLiTES: Auxiliary Lighting, HID Off Road Lights, Fog Lights, Driving Lights, Light Bars, Wiring Accessories

thats my FJ they used on there site.

Re: Off Road Light Recommedations!help Me Out

I like my my IPF 968 hybrid beams (spot/flood combo)....and the price is right...$110 for the set of 2. They also come with the 100 watt bulbs free, so you have the choose of 55W or 100W.

Re: Off Road Light Recommedations!help Me Out

I upgraded my FJ's driving bulbs to IPF H4's. I have IPF fog lights in my bumper. I want to add some short to medium range light that will cover a wide area. Unless they show a dispersal pattern, how do I determine the pattern of light? There are a lot of terms describing the lights, color etc. I would also like to turn these on/off and not be dependent on what my headlights are doing.

If you Google for IPF 968 lights or Black Daylighter ® 130w System # 631 lights, no information on the pattern. Also with bulb types, what do you get with each type of bulb, H4, H9, Fat magic this, supper that, extreme, 200000 candle power, and on and on...

Someone needs to but out a nice table of information on bulbs and lights for us uneducated ones.

Also, how do you align driving lights after a lift and new bulbs? Same for fog lights?

Thanks for you help .

Re: Off Road Light Recommedations!help Me Out

Well fellows. I bought the Real Wheels light bar through a dealer on Ebay. Now I have to make a decision on lights. I like the Lightforce Strikers but they don't include wiring harnesses and filters Total=$610+shipping=ouch. I like the PIAA 580s but dont like the horizontal only stone guard. KC slimlights aren't too bad and I can get the 4 for about $350.00. I wanted something a little bigger. 7" ?? Too big? Need input. I only want to do the wiring once so it's important I make a good decision the first time around. Hella Black Magics are another alternative. Your imput as always is highly reguarded!
