Yakima MegaWarrior Basket

Anybody install one of these? Looking for pictures and your comments specific to installation onto the existing stock rack.

Thanks,

Re: Yakima MegaWarrior Basket

I have one on my tacoma. I am also a dealer for yakima. My suggestion is to go arb. The challenge with the yakima basket on the factory rack is hieght. You will never be able to load anything up there without climbing a ladder.

If you insist on it move both your crossbars to the upper level and then it mounts to the crossbars. a simple bolt on install. I am not sure the exact width of the factory fj rack but you may need the load warror. I believe the 44" width of the mega warrior will be wider then the factory rack and could cause issues if your wheeling in tight offcamber areas.

Outside of it's hieght issue on the fj, the warrior baskets are good. I have beat on a load warrior hard for 3 years and just switched to a mega about 6 months ago. I am very happy with both of them. I carry 6 lights shovel and 60" hi lift on mine. Plus light camping gear like chairs etc up there on trips.

Re: Yakima MegaWarrior Basket

Let me ammend this by saysing that yakima and thule will most likely offer a tower that will inface with the fj roof. If your planing this basket I would plan to switch your factory rack to a thule base rack (tracker tower) as soon as it's available. The thule rack is better then the yakima rack in this particular style of tower imo. I sell both brands in my store and have installed probably a few 1000 racks.

Oh and if i didn't say it before i'll say it again i would go arb rack!

Re: Yakima MegaWarrior Basket

Thanks,

I have the basket stored up in my garage and was too lazy to fit it. Just thought i could save some time if someone already tried it.
