Angry The First One Hurts The Most

Yeah...I consider this "Exterior Visual Tech"

On an hour drive south from my hometown today...winds gusting to 40mph, snow flying, roads are sheer ice. I pull into gas station...I ALWAYS make room for those frigg'n metal post filled with cement...the one's that protect the pumps...you know...those fawkers...My dumbass pulls in...ass to the wind...this frigg'n place has the mini-me post you can't even see! So... I'm not thinking...open the door and...BAM.... wind catches the door, rips it out of my girly grip and BAM...FRIGG"N DOOR DING...I can't remember the last time I had a door ding. Anyway...1st one hurts the most. You guys that go serious offroading probably don't relate to my panzy ass rant...nor care.
I'm kinda bummed. Thanks for listening.

I know how you feel. Didn't ding my door but I got a chip on my hood because I followed one of those rock trucks too close on the highway...stupid stupid stupid Worst part is that I saw the rocks falling out and I still didn't back off. duh

Next time that happens to you, speed up and get the plate# of the truck that spewed the stone and make them pay for your damage. They are accountable for your their cargo.

Yeah I know that. the same company replaced my windshield on my Acura CL a few years ago. So you'd think I would of learned my lesson for following too close. Yeah you right though, I should of got the plate #.

Re: The First One Hurts The Most

Big Daddy & dangerisFJ, I feel your pain.

I got my first ding last night, a major paint chip (more like a divot, right down to the base plastic) on the right rear bumper "wing".

Lesson learned: even in 4L with the ATRAC on, one should not stop in the middle of going up a 20 degree slope that is completely coated with ice, and expect not to be sliding back down the hill when attempting to resume forward motion.

The guy behind me had already slipped backwards into the guy behind him, who had managed to turn sideways when he had lost traction, so he got his driver's side door and front fender of his F-250 stoved in by the rear bumper/spare tire of the guy behind me. I had stopped 'cause I was thinking I could/should offer to pull them up the hill.

There sure was a whole mess of bent up sheetmetal back there between the two other guys. I just barely made contact, so I guess I got lucky.

Anybody upgrading to an aftermarket rear bumper got a extra Titanium Metalic right rear bumper wing they don't need?

Re: The First One Hurts The Most

The second day I had the FJ and the first time I put "the club" on the steering wheel there was a tiny uncoated metal edge left on the club and I dinged the wheel. Pissed me right off. Within a week I had driven through so many mesquite lined roads that the sides of the FJ looked like annoyed person had spent a hour dragging a key up and down the length of the truck. But it's the little chip in the steering wheel that still bugs me.
