Re: GPS Mount

how much did all the parts cost you?

Looks like you had to buy an FJ mount plus a flat base to mount the gps unit too

Re: GPS Mount

This is a nice solution, it's the new TomTom One, no antenna required and hard wired into the fuse box....$ 299

Re: GPS Mount

It stayed for 4 days before falling off, I picked up an 8x10 piece of clear plexi for a buck fifty at Lowes, cut a 3.5" square piece and with clear silicone stuck it in that spot overnight, works great and TomTom has stayed put ever since.

Re: GPS Mount

I like having mine attached to the windshield,or high enough I don't have to lower my head. When I am looking at the GPS, I can keep the road in my peripheral view.

Re: GPS Mount

The windshield mount works well too, for Me though a bit of a reach and I like having it out of the direct sunlight, also a minor annoyance to remove every time the windshield sun shade has to go in. What ever works for you is the right thing to do.

Re: GPS Mount

Here is my TOMTOM one. I love the location; easy access while driving and it's right in front of my face. I plan on running the power wire in to the dash-top compartment.

Re: GPS Mount

The greatest thing about this unit is it talks to you, so having it on the dash really isn't necessary in my opinion, and really don't like it up there for all the world to see, and the heat up there during summer months is gonna cook the thing.

Re: GPS Mount

To each is their own.

In the 4th coldest city in the United States heat really isn't an issue.
I remove it when I leave the vehicle (or hide it).
Yes it talks but one has to tell it what to say.

It is a very handy unit though.
