Okay, I think i want to get one of these.

Do you think i will be able to angle this in a way that will be pleasing to my view?

Re: GPS Mount

This is a great GPS mounting idea. I did it with my Garmin 60Csx today and it's far superior to any dash mount in several ways:

First, it gets the screen out of the sun glare and closer to your eyes.

Second, you can position it so the A-pillar is directly behind the GPS, so you don't lose any of your field of vision like you do with a dash mount.

Third, it keeps your head up when working with the GPS, so you can see the road out of the corner of your eye.

Thanks for the idea, rep points for that.

Re: GPS Mount

I have one question regarding the RAM mount. In order to deattach the GPS unit from the mount while leaving the vehicle do I need any other parts? I see two bolts at the mounting side... Thanks.

Toyota FJ Cruiser 2007 (751372007) Description

The mount is designed for a Sirius satellite radio, but I'm sure with some creativity you could mount anything to it. I have one in another vehicle, and it is very secure.

Re: GPS Mount

I purchased a nice floor mount on e-Bay for my Magellan Crossover.

Magellan GPS 2000T 2200T 3000T 3050T 6000T FLOOR MOUNT - (eBay item 180114646028 end time Sep-03-07 18:27:03 PDT)

It's made of steel and mounts quickly to the front left bolt of the passenger seat. The flexible "goose neck" makes it easy to move around for optimal viewing (or if your passenger wants to navigate).

Here's a pic of it installed in my FJ:

For about $20 shipped, you just can't beat it.

Re: GPS Mount

I just used some of that extra strength Velcro (like the stuff used to put E-ZPass units on windshields) and stuck it to the upper dash to the right of the steering wheel. Easy to reach and very secure. I love that Velcro.
