Did I tell You I hate the FJ's Windshield?

I was driving down the PW Parkway today when the car in front of me drifted into the breakdown lane and then back out. About a second or two later BANG a second broken winshield. The stone that hit had to have been small because I never saw it coming. I did see the rock with the first winshield but didn't have room to avoid it. This is a major problem as this will be my second winshield in less than 3,000 miles. The glass shop that is going to fix it has replaced almost 100 in the last 6 months. So much for Toyota quality. I am calling the 800 number to file another complaint about the winshield.

Re: Did I tell You I hate the FJ's Windshield?

I have 3 small rock chip cracks in mine, but am waiting for a few more before I replace it. The windshields definately are bogus and it is NOT because of their steep angle.

Does Toyota even make glass? I didn't think so but I could be wrong. This whole problem is the windshield angle, have you noticed how many more bugs hit it?

I don't think it's the whole problem. Other vehicles with similarly steep-angled windshields haven't had this much breakage...i.e..Jeeps and older FJ40's etc...

everytime I see these threads I knock wood. I have been lucky I guess, more than a few serious hits, most of which scared the bejebus out of me, but no nicks, not chips, and no breaks... *knock wood*

Re: Did I tell You I hate the FJ's Windshield?

Every Toyota I have owned has had a cracked windsheilds and they cracked easily. 85 4Runner, 89 Extra Cab pickup, 97 Extra Cab Tacoma. I think it is a tademark of Toyota.

Re: Did I tell You I hate the FJ's Windshield?

I have owned numerous Toyotas and they never cracked by tiny stones. My RAV4 has been hit numerous times in 3 years and has never actually cracked. There is something wrong with the quality, not many have been sold around here (Woodbridge, VA) yet a large volume of them are seeing windshields replaced. Like I stated above the particular glass shop that will do the replacement for me has done more than 100 in the last six months, and that is only one shop.

Re: Did I tell You I hate the FJ's Windshield?

I am waiting aon a response back with a quote from a company that manufactures them. I may call them tomorrow and see how quickly I can get one. Each time these break it costs me $100 (deductable) but State Farm said no big deal and not to worry about the policy.
