CALL THAT NUMBER!!!!
800-331-4331

I spoke with a representative and he said to please have everyone who has this problem call them and file a report as they are trying to look into this issue and did not realize this many people were effected by it. They will give you a file #. Keep this number and keep updating your file with a quick phone call as soon as anything more happens to your window. I am on my second one already and it got it's first pit mark the other night.

Admin: Will you sticky that number or even put it on the main page with a notice for windshiled complaints? It seems we have the ball rolling and they are looking into it now, so the more complaints the more likely these guys will pull through for us. It was maybe a 5 minute call.

Thanks guys!
As i posted in another thread, I called for the 3rd time today. The jerkoff i spoke to said he never heard of the issue.

The girl I got told me they have had complaints, and that its just the angle, so there was nothign that they could do. Since a pebble hit it, its not covered under warranty...

I just received a call from the service manager where I bought my FJ. He stated that Toyota is going to send out technical representatives to look at windshield issues. The district representative is going to be removed from the windshield decisions. Obviously Ross McLaughlin got through to someone to make this change happen. This could be a good thing. I am waiting for my appointment to be scheduled with a technical representative. I will keep you posted.
If you want strength in numbers when the rep comes, I would be glad to show him my windshield as well.

I honestly believe that these cracks are related to the stress the windshield is under and that is why a tiny pebble can break these windshields so easily.
I'd agree. Here's the part I can't understand Ron. Windshields stopped being a thing that floats in a rubber gasket long ago. They are now a structural component to vehicle rigidity... perhaps to offset sunroofs and t-tops. In any event, given that the windshield has a role to play you would think that ANY off-road vehicle would, by default, need a thicker and stronger windshield.

Perhaps because the FJ was designed to be a concept vehicle, and therefore the initial design had a flush mount windshield for cool aesthetic purposes, Toyota faced a challenge translating it into a real production windshield. Whatever the reason, clearly they did not put enough thought into its design. Hopefully now they will go back to their roots, and design a windshield built to the off-road specs of the older FJ's?

Toyota just became #1 and they live on their reputation for durable design... they really need to fix this... and the quicker the better.

I may be the odd man out here, but I don't just want a 60K warranty, I want a properly designed windshield that I won't have to replace...

Shoot me a PM with details; I assume it's going to be Fitzgerald on Frederick Rd.

OK, I'm sure I will be completely flamed, banned and tortured over this, but I can not stay off my soapbox. WTF is wrong with the news / people? No shootings to sensationalize this week? Let's make a big deal out of cracked glass that travels at 70+mph at an approximate 55 degree angle. Personally, I would have an issue with driving down the road and having my engine fall out, but a broken windshield? Get a life! Ask a Jeep driver how often they crack a windshield. I would prefer 7 On My Side to do a story about the the sacrafices our soliders and their families are making. I chose to purchase my FJ which I truly enjoy; whining about its shortcomings is not going make it better!!! Thanks
I think important stories like the ones you describe have been done and done over and over again. Nothing wrong with it, but it cant be the only story they do.
Maybe the windshield isnt an issue for you (yet) but when it breaks on you once or more than once, the exhorbitant price of replacing it will be. Maybe then you'd understand and have some sympathy for people who have had issues with it.
An extra thousand in expenses can break some families. JMO
