In my post I referenced the FJ poll located on the home page and stated approximately 300. There are currently 1316 votes with 29.26% broken. According to my math that equates to 385.0616 so, I stand corrected and will round up to 400. I do not have time nor do I care to read all of the windshield threads.
U also have to take into consideration not everyone votes. Also people that have voted earlier may have a crack now. There is some type of problem with these windshields. It could be a certain range of vin numbers. I know I have driven many vehicles with near vertical windshields with no problems until now.

When...and I mean WHEN (not if) you replace your windshield in your FJ and get a massive dose of sticker shock from the bill (hopefully your insurance will cover it), you will change your tune! At 1,700.00+ (my out the door price for replacement) for a windshield, one may stand a chance on getting dropped from the insurance company if replacement happens too often.

I'm glad that 7 on your side is getting involved. Not all news that is worthy to be aired need be tragic or involve death. This is a safety issue and not a cosmetic one. And for your information, 7 On Your Side is a consumer advocacy investigative department of WJLA. If you haven't seen the broadcast, then you wouldn't know...I don't fault you for this.

This is not a bunch of people seeking reparations for a "weak link" in the FJ's armor, rather a group of owners who seek a better solution from Toyota over an aparent safety issue.

BTW, you've lost your rant privledges once you break your window. After all, it's not a matter of "if", only "when it does happen.
When I break my windshield I will handle it just like I handle any other repercussion from my decisions; my choice my problem. If I need to pay out of pocket I will.

I completely expect to break (likely more than one) my windshield. It will go wonderfully with the pinstripes and stone chips on my FJ.

This is the statement that is really confusing "an apparent safety issue" since when did a broken windshield become a safety issue? I have heard of no injuries due to a windshield cracking.

Finally, I could really use clarification on your last statement.

Re: 7 On Your Side Wants Emails Re: Windshield Problems

I am just doing my part to help FJ owners. Honda was forced to cover a near verticle windshield in the Element and I think Toyota should step up to the plate and do the same thing. They should warranty the windshield for the same duration 6 years or 60,000 miles. They had to have known this was a problem.

I understand that, which is typically why a poll is shown in percentages and I referenced the FJ poll. I agree there is a problem, they are made of glass. As there are more FJs on the road there will be more broken windshields. Also, the price of the unique "FJ" windshield will decrease.

When I had my chip repaired, I was BSing with the guy and he was telling me about the only FJ windshield he replaced. The driver had a rock came through the windshield. I dont know if he was injured, just that sounds like a safety issue.

This is from Edmunds on the FJ Windshield.

Re: 7 On Your Side Wants Emails Re: Windshield Problems

I look at it this way, nothing ventured - nothing gained.

We got this far (thanks to Ron) and let's see what happens - worst case is nothing, best case we get something for the windshields; warranty, replacements, recogintion and some form of resolution.

I'm sure the Element group had their doubts too initaly; so what do we got to lose?

Re: 7 On Your Side Wants Emails Re: Windshield Problems

Ok, I agree windshields break. My original point / opinion is that there are many items significantly more newsworthy than the plight of the FJ owner.

Good luck with your pursuit. I'll be watching (the Forum not the news) for the outcome.

Bob
