Built and Installed Hitch

When I purchased my FJ it didn't have a hitch, so I looked at the pic's on ebay of the factory reciever hitch, designed and built my own. It's made out of 1/2" plate 304 Stainless Steel and weighs in at 27lbs. Iused my bandsaw to cut the silver trim piece so the hitch would have clearance, Mark.

Re: Built and Installed Hitch

Nice work!! Have you tested it yet to see how it holds up?

And the most obvious question: How much to make another one??

Re: Built and Installed Hitch

I have not tested it yet but I'll bet it will pull anything my FJ will pull.....As far as building more, we are slow at work so the boss didn't mine too much. He would blow a gasket if I was to go into production. The only weak point are the bolts attaching it to the frame.

Did you use Grade 8 bolts or better?

I see you shoot sporting clays. I've not tried them yet. I shoot Trap and 5 Stand, great sport and stress releiver.

Yes, I used hardened grade 8 bolts, that's still the weekest link. I love to shoot Skeet and Sporting Clays and have shot some Trap.
