I replaced the OEM mirror glass with the Multivex mirrors rather than attaching them to the existing OEM glass as per the factory instructions. I wanted a more finished look.
I bought an extra set of the OEM mirror glass from my local dealer (about $100 for both driver side and passenger side).
I removed the OEM glass and backing plate from the mirror housing using the excellent instructions provided by Chatsworth 818 FJ in his prior thread, “PIAA super white mirror light”.
I then removed the OEM glass from the backing plate so I could attach the Multivex mirrors to the OEM plastic backing plate.
The OEM glass is attached to the backing plate with two pieces of glue strips in the center. I soaked the strips with Goo Remover for about 15 minutes and then was able to pry the glass out of the backing plate with a putty knife. (one of the lenses broke and the other got scratched so this not a reversible process).
I then attached the Multivex mirrors to the backing plates with epoxy glue. I placed a lump of epoxy glue in the center of the backing plate and positioned the lens on to the backing plate using the double face tape that came with the mirrors. I then used two large “cloth pin" spring type clamps to squeeze the center of the backing plate against the back of the Multivex mirror until the epoxy glue dried. I also used a little hot glue to get the top of the backing plate to conform it to the curvature of the top of the lens.
The Multivex mirrors fit the backing plate very well except for a couple of corners where there is a 1/16” gap between the glass and the lip of the backing plate. I filed those voids with black silicon sealer.
And that’s it, Multivex mirrors with the fit and finish of OEM mirrors.

That's a great write-up but I am STUPID!! How 'bout some pics of at least the finished product. Pics during the install process would be even better if you have them. Thanks!!
I have a pic of the finished product. Could someone explain how to attach it to this thread. I have it stored in my computer but each time I try to attach it I get an error that the file is to big. Picture taking is not one of my strong suits!!!
OK, I got it figured out. Attached are the finished driver and passenger door mirrors. You can see the slight gap on the lower right hand corner of the drivers mirror that I filed with black silicon sealer. Sorry I don't have pics of each step as picture taking is not my strong suit. Now that I know how to do it I will make sure to take pics of each step on my next project.
Thanks for the pics. I like the look. I was actually trying to figure out how to make the mirrors more like the F-250's that have the convex mirror on the strip at the bottom. Something like this:

Looks good. I'm probably just tired and not reading this right, but I don't understand why you had to buy an extra set of the OEM mirror glass?
