Roof rack mounted lights! Lots of pics!

So iv'e been wanting to add some additional lighting to my sun fusion for a while now, and finnally finished up my prodject a couple weeks ago. Thought some might like to see the results. Sorry for the quality of the pics.I couldn't uplaod them directly from my computer cause they were to big for this forum.

Imounted 4 lights facing front, two on the sides (one right, one left), and two facing the rear. The rfrontlights are just 3x6 black housing 55watt driving lights. Since i won't be using theselights very offten, and yes-dare i say.. i mainly have them for looks,i didn't see spending $500 for some piaa lights. I have piaa's for fog lights cause i use those on a daily basis and felt the money was well worth it.

Re: Roof rack mounted lights! Lots of pics!

The side and rear lights are are from northern tool. There 55 watt "wide spot lights" (at least thats what northern tool calls them). They work very well!

The rear lights do an exellent job of giving me exrta light when backing up! They do an even better job at keeping tail gaters from tail gating!!

The roof lights work extemely well for being $20 wallmart lights! They light up my whole neighborhood!

LOL! Thanks. Ya, I guess i don't have an excuse that i couldn't see anything

All the wiring go's through the roof rack tubes, and down through the drivers side roof rack foot. For the rear lights, i i ran the wires just before the rear bend in the rack. At first i didn't think there was a way to get past the center rack, but it wasn't intill a recent post by a fellow memeber that i learned if you disasemble the rack, you could drill though the center section and pass wires through. This would have made the install much cleaner. Oh well.

I used 12 gauge wireing for everything cause
1- the lenth of wire needed to run the lights to the top
2- if i ever decide to upgrade to a higher wattage light, i'll know the wires will be able to handle the extra current.
The fuze block was a bit of a pain trying to find a spot to place it that woulnd interfer with anything and still give me easy accses to the fuzes. I used two 90 degree brackets with a one inch spacer mounted to the side of the engine bay to make clearance for the hood strut. Note the relay for the bumper mounted piaa lights is right under the fuze block in the last pic.
The fuze block has 8 spots. I still have 3 left for what ever accesory i decide to add in the futrue. The wires were ran through the firewall the same time everything else was ran so add things later will be a lot eaiser.

Re: Roof rack mounted lights! Lots of pics!

In the first pic you can see the were the wires pass through the firewall. I used a factory hole, and just enlarged the hole to and used a rubber grommet with the wires wraped in loom. Its siloconed to prevent water from coming in.

The switch panel-
The each set of lights have there own switch. The bottom left switch controls all 4 front lights, the switch to the right on the bottom controls the rear lights, the top elft controls the left alley and right top controls the right alley. I also installed a 3 outlet 12v accesory outlets to the right side of the of center console.

Coments are welcomed!

I got the switches from my friends web site.
HID Kits & Neons - underbody kits, LEDs, cathodes, hid kits

heres a link for the switches. Scion OEM Style LED Rocker Switch
I told him about my prodject, so he donated a few to me to see if they work with the stock blank panels on the FJ. with slight trimingon the side of thepanel, they pop right in. And if you want to reuse your blank panels, you can.

Here are some night shots. They didn't come out the best, but they give you an idea. The side lights didn't come out other than just blobs of light. Soi didn't include those. Just front and rear.
