Yep, compared to CA, GA is another world. In GA (like in many other states), a loaded shotgun within reach in the vehicle is not only legal, but often a way of life.
God I love the South. Awesome build Steve. You should open a shop just to do custom FJ mods like this. I would pay you!!!!!

Yeah, I know what you mean by "another world". I'm seriously considering leaving here, especially with this microstamping nonsense that will essentially make all handguns illegal and before long, all guns...

Where did you get those tie-down points? Are they the same as the FJ ones? Did you do an inside back door release? I did one similar to sonof40's (REAR DOOR INSIDE RELEASE: Modification w/ pics). I'm about to build a sleeping platform with a hinged forward piece so I can move my front seats back while driving and swing it down for more length when sleeping.

Those are the original OEM tie-down hooks from the rear cargo floor that I removed when I installed the box.

Nope, I haven't added a back door release yet. That'll be upcoming along with some other back door mods I've got planned.

If there was a round in the chamber and the weapon was c0cked, then the safety should be on. However, that wouldn't be a safe way for carrying/storing shotgun.

The best/safest way to have a personal defense slide-action shotgun "at the ready" until time of usage, is to have rounds in the magazine tube, no round in the chamber, and the hammer down. (If the hammer is c0cked, the slide-action will not cycle unless you go fumbling for the slide release button . . . . which isn't always that easy to find in an emergency/stress situation.)

However, your concern for firearms safety is appreciated and should be practiced by more people out there.

You know, Steve, that's what I love about the Moss 500 -- it's heavy, it's noisy, it rattles ... but if you run out of shells, you can beat 'em over the head with it and it'll still be good for deer hunting next season!
