Oznium says 2 weeks before they're in stock.

Ace Techno, that's a cool map light. Where did you get it?

FJforme, That was a great write up and thanks to you I now see the light. BTW, do you happen to work for the border patrol...I've never seen so many lights on a FJC.

Thank you FJforMe and thank you to all the others who put so much effort into their threads/posts! It's great in-depth write-ups like these that have helped make this site my most time consuming stop on the internet!

I hate it when I don't find out ahead of time that items are not in stock. There's not much in life that really bugs me, but that one does. I think you should know ahead of time if items are not in stock and know how long you will be waiting in the backorder que before you commit to buy, not after.
To their credit, they did email me immediately after I placed my order on their web site and told me they were not in stock. If I'd called on the phone I could have found out ahead of time, but since I didn't I'm not unhappy with them. And while this is a really neat upgrade, it's not a crucial thing that would keep me from using my truck while I wait so it's cool as far as I'm concerned.

Just FYI Mwhy, that's what they told me in an email last month too: "We are expecting more to arrive in the next 2 weeks". Maybe we'll all get them soon.

I'm glad to here that Oznium notified you about the backorder status. They seem to a decent vendor to buy from. I hope you like the lights when you do get them.

No I don't work for the border patrol. The roof rack lights I find very useful when I'm working late outside in remote areas or when loading and unloading at campsites. I have switches for left, right, front and back. I use the back lights almost daily when backing down my driveway in the dark. When camping, the lights are great to use until you get unpacked and get the lanterns going.

Every time I add something to the FJ, my wife just smiles and says "thats the gift that keeps on giving". What else can she say after 23 years of marriage!

Re: Dome Light Comparison (for us blind blind guys)

FJforMee, Great post with nice pics! I'd love to do EXACTLY what you did in the front- that is, replace the whole stock dome with the Chevy one with the map lights. Was that a huge hassle to do, or fairly straightforward? I'm not much with electrical stuff beyond cutting and splicing a couple wires.

The GM dome light idea is thanks to SwissArmySuv.
http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...s-details.html

If I were you I'd hold off on the GM light install. It's not bad and not expensive, but SwissArmySuv is already working on a pretty cool new map/dome light install package. The GM spots are pretty weak, but they work. When SwissArmySuv's new light goes into production, then I would install his and then put my original FJ dome back in still using the Oznium LEDs. I installed the GM dome in place of my factory dome and can reverse the install. SwissArmySuv's instruction from the link above install the GM dome light in a new location more over the shifter area.

Here's the link to SwissArmySuv's future map light kit. It may be worth waiting for! It's up to 21 pages of discussion so far.
