Re: Dome Light Comparison (for us blind blind guys)

I've waited 4 weeks so far for the oznium... damn. I also have puck light that I use as a maplight.. took me 30 seconds to install and works like a champ.. lights my dash, beautifully.

The GM dome light idea is thanks to SwissArmySuv.
http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...s-details.html

If I were you I'd hold off on the GM light install. It's not bad and not expensive, but SwissArmySuv is already working on a pretty cool new map/dome light install package. The GM spots are pretty weak, but they work. When SwissArmySuv's new light goes into production, then I would install his and then put my original FJ dome back in still using the Oznium LEDs. I installed the GM dome in place of my factory dome and can reverse the install. SwissArmySuv's instruction from the link above install the GM dome light in a new location more over the shifter area.

Here's the link to SwissArmySuv's future map light kit. It may be worth waiting for! It's up to 21 pages of discussion so far.

Great suggestion! Whew, that took about an hour to follow that (exciting to read) thread down to the end. I have added my name to the growing list of folks who want one of those.
But...I'd still like to do what you did, but put the same dome as my wife's Tahoe has, which has 3 lights in it- one, a dome light that comes on when one opens the doors, and 2 "half lights" (for lack of a better word) that point backwards to the back seat. It's great for the kids and doesn't bother nighttime vision for the driver.
So..........got any words of advice in that regard?

They have one to fit the FJ, I bought mine from them - they are insanely bright. You have to call them to find the correct part for the fJ but they are well worth it

Re: Dome Light Comparison (for us blind blind guys)

I might try these guys. They are a few miles away from me in Westminster. I just can't see waiting for over a month for the other guys.
I will post up the results.

Re: Dome Light Comparison (for us blind blind guys)

Do not get the PIAA blue dome light bulbs. My lasted about 12 months and both came apart within a few days of each other. A total waste of money! I have used stock Toyota ones in my other Toyotas and they last for many years.

Re: Dome Light Comparison (for us blind blind guys)

OK I went & bought these from a place called UPFD in Westminster, Ca. I liked em so much that I bought em for the frt & the rear. I had a few guys from the forum ck em out.........they all gave em thumbs up! The brand is called Luxer. They are way brighter than stock. They are made to fit the Fj domes perfectly. No cutting etc etc. They fit perfectly centered & are plug n play. He has em in stock / no waiting. When I went down to get em he popped em in for me. Took him about 1 minute each. They aren't cheap and are the same price as the others out there. Call & ask for Matt @ UPFD (714-890-5153)

I saw these in person and they really light up the inside. They were $30 right?

Re: Dome Light Comparison (for us blind blind guys)

I think they were about $70.00 for both including tax IIRC.
